To The Orphic Void
To the Orphic Void is the third studio album by the Argentine/Swedish band Tersivel. The album was released on 11 February through Uprising! Records. Concept The album deals with the concept of death and how this can be philosophically approached from different angles. The lyrics refer to Orphism as well as Pythagorean metempsychosis but only as metaphors or allegories to explore the concept. On the booklet's second page the following text is included: '' Inhabiting this record could be both a cathartic and dramatic experience. There are no shortcuts in life, and yet, there's one clear destination to us all. Shared by everyone. Common to each little living thing that dances to the music of Nature.'' Tersivel
Tersivel is an Argentine pagan metal band from Buenos Aires, formed in 2004. Alongside bands such as Skiltron and Tengwar, they are considered one of the first folk metal bands from Argentina. History Tersivel was formed in 2004 by Lian Gerbino in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2006, Nicolás Närgrath joined on growled vocals. A short time after the release of their first EP titled ''When She Sang...'', all members except Lian and Nicolás, decided to leave the band. By this time, Franco Robert joined Tersivel on keyboards, Sefirot on drums and Maxi Corbalán on bass guitar. Later Nicolás picked up the guitar and Lian decided to be in charge of clean vocals. In August 2010, after many gigs and touring in the underground Argentine scene, Tersivel released their second EP titled ''Far Away In The Distant Skies'' creating a big expectation outside their country. Progressive Metal
Progressive metal (sometimes shortened to prog metal) is a broad :Fusion music genres, fusion music genre melding heavy metal music, heavy metal and progressive rock, combining the loud "aggression" and amplified electric guitar, guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter. Post-metal
Post-metal is a music genre rooted in heavy metal but exploring approaches beyond metal conventions. It emerged in the 1990s with bands such as Neurosis and Godflesh, who transformed metal texture through experimental composition. In a way similar to the predecessor genres post-rock and post-hardcore, post-metal offsets the darkness and intensity of extreme metal with an emphasis on atmosphere, emotion, and even "revelation", developing an expansive but introspective sound variously imbued with elements of ambient, noise, psychedelic, progressive, and classical music. Songs are typically long, with loose and layered structures that discard the verse–chorus form in favor of crescendos and repeating themes. Pagan Metal
Pagan metal is a genre of heavy metal music which fuses extreme metal with " the pre-Christian traditions of a specific culture or region" through thematic concept, rustic melodies, unusual instruments or archaic languages, Wiederhorn 2009, p. 62. usually referring to folk metal or black metal. The Norwegian band In the Woods... was one of the first bands commonly viewed as pagan metal. The album refers to Julian, also known as Julian the Apostate, who was Roman Emperor from 361 to 363. Death
Death is the irreversible cessation of all biological functions that sustain an organism. Orphism (religion)
Orphism (more rarely Orphicism; grc, Ὀρφικά, Orphiká) is the name given to a set of religious beliefs and practices originating in the ancient Greek and Hellenistic world, associated with literature ascribed to the mythical poet Orpheus, who descended into the Greek underworld and returned. This type of journey is called a katabasis and is the basis of a several hero worships and journeys.
