Tizi Ouzou or Thizi Wezzu (, Kabyle: Tizi Wezzu) is a city in north central Algeria. It is among the largest cities in Algeria. It is the second most populous city in the Kabylie region after Bejaia. History Etymology The name ''Tizi Ouzou'' is made up of two Kabyle words: ''Tizi'' meaning col, and ''Ouzou'' (from ''Azzu'') meaning Genisteae. Faiza Lalam ( ar, فايزة لعلام) is a medical doctor from Algeria, who is credited as the first woman neurosurgeon in Africa, spearheading the work of women in the specialism on the continent. She was described in 2020 as the "'Dean' of women neurosurgeons in Africa and the Middle East" by the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies. Genisteae
Genisteae is a tribe of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants in the subfamily Faboideae of the family Fabaceae. It includes a number of well-known plants including broom, lupine (lupin), gorse and laburnum. The tribe's greatest diversity is in the Mediterranean, and most genera are native to Europe, Africa, the Canary Islands, India and southwest Asia. However, the largest genus, ''Lupinus'', is most diverse in North and South America. ''Anarthrophytum'' and ''Sellocharis'' are also South American and ''Argyrolobium'' ranges into India.
