Tivoli Friheden is an amusement park located in Aarhus, Denmark. The park was visited by more than 365,000 visitors in 2009, and the figure is rising. The park is situated about 2 km to the south of the city centre. It has several themed sections with different types of attractions. There are more than 40 attractions. The water section (''Tivoli VanDvittig'') covers an area of 5,000 m2. History In 1903 the citizens of Aarhus went on Sunday picnics to the woods where the forester served beer, coffee and cakes. The forester was so engaged with the restaurant that the city council was concerned that he was more of a restaurateur than a forester. As a result, the council gave one of the city's restaurants permission to serve the visitors in the woods. Mejlgade
Mejlgade is a street in Aarhus which runs north to south from ''Østbanetorvet'' to Skolegade and intersects ''Nørrebrogade''. The street is situated in the historic Latin Quarter neighborhood and has the highest number of historic and listed buildings in the city. Lauritz Melchior (20 March 1890 – 18 March 1973) was a Danish-American opera singer. He was the preeminent Wagnerian tenor of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s and has come to be considered the quintessence of his voice type. Gerda Amalie Holst Christophersen (1870–1947) was a Danish stage and film actress, singer, theatre director and writer. From 1911, she starred in numerous early Danish films, including 15 from Nordisk Film. Marselisborg is a small borough of Aarhus, Denmark. Being small and situated just south of Frederiksbjerg, Marselisborg is often considered part of Frederiksbjerg.
