Titus Allooloo
Titus Allooloo (born 1953, Pond Inlet, Northwest Territories (now Nunavut)) is a business man and former territorial level politician from Nunavut, Canada. He served as a member and cabinet Minister of the Northwest Territories Legislature through two terms from 1987 until 1995. Politics Allooloo was elected to his first term in the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories, running as a candidate in the 1987 Northwest Territories general election. He won the Amittuq electoral district. He was re-elected to his second term in the 1991 Northwest Territories general election defeating future Nunavut MLA Enoki Irqittuq. He became a cabinet minister serving as Minister of Culture and Communications, Transportation, Education, Renewable Resources, Municipal and Community Affairs, and Associate Minister of Aboriginal Rights and Constitutional Development. Pond Inlet
Pond Inlet ( iu, Mittimatalik, lit=the place where Mittima is buried) is a small, predominantly Inuit community in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of Nunavut, Canada, located on northern Baffin Island. To the Inuit the name of the place "is and always has been Mittimatalik." The Scottish explorer Sir John Ross had named an arm of the sea that separates Bylot Island from Baffin Island as Pond's Bay, and the hamlet now shares that name. On 29 August 1921, the Hudson's Bay Company opened its trading post near the Inuit camp and named it Pond Inlet, marking the expansion of its trading empire into the High Arctic. Mark Evaloarjuk
Mark Evaloarjuk, CM (né Evaluarjuk; 1937 – July 3, 2002) was a northern Canadian business pioneer and politician from Igloolik, Nunavut. He served as a member of the Northwest Territories Legislature from 1975 until 1983, and served as President of Arctic Cooperatives Ltd. In 1981, he became inducted as member of the Order of Canada. Evaluarjuk was first elected to the Northwest Territories Legislature in the 1975 Northwest Territories general election winning the new electoral district of Foxe Basin. He was re-elected to a second term in the 1979 Northwest Territories general election. On June 22, 1981, he was appointed to be a Member of the Order of Canada for his past work in bringing the cooperative movement to the Canadian arctic and helping to establish the largest employer of Aboriginal Canadians. Yellowknife, Northwest Territories
Yellowknife (; Dogrib: ) is the capital, largest community, and only city in the Northwest Territories, Canada. It is on the northern shore of Great Slave Lake, about south of the Arctic Circle, on the west side of Yellowknife Bay near the outlet of the Yellowknife River.
