Timm Collegiate
The Timm Collegiate was a series of American-built two-seat light aircraft of the late 1920s. Design and development Otto Timm founded the O.W. Timm Aircraft Corp in 1922 with its base at Glendale, California. The firm changed its name to the Timm Airplane Co in 1928. During 1928 Timm designed the Collegiate series of parasol-winged two-seat light aircraft fitted with fixed tailwheel undercarriage. The Comet 7-cylinder radials were a family of air-cooled radial engines, designed and built by the Comet Engine Corporation at Madison, Wisconsin from around 1927. Design and development Comet designed the 7-cylinder radial series to take advantage of the boom in private aviation in the late 1920s; intending to replace the large number of relatively unreliable wartime surplus engines that flooded the market in the early 1920s. First produced by the Aircraft Engine Corporation of Oakland, California, new interests acquired the California company and the Comet Engine Corporation was formed under the sponsorship of Air Investors Inc., the Crocker First Company of San Francisco and the Gisholt Machine Company. Timm Aircraft
The O.W. Timm Aircraft Company was an American aircraft manufacturer founded by Otto William Timm, based in Los Angeles, California. History Between 1911 and 1922 O.W. Timm built several aircraft with varying success before he founded, in 1922, the O.W. Timm Aircraft Company. Timm manufactured six models of a parasol design, the Collegiate. In 1934 Otto and his brother Wally Timm joined to form a new company named the Timm Airplane Company to produce the Timm T-S140, a high wing twin engine aircraft using new features developed at NACA such as flaps and tricycle landing gear. Wally Timm formed his own Glendale based aviation company later on, the Wally Timm Inc. The company developed a "plastic" material made of resin and wood similar to the Duramold process. The Curtiss R-600 Challenger was a six-cylinder, double-row, air-cooled, radial engine for aircraft use built in the United States in the late 1920s. It developed . Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum
The Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum, located at Creve Coeur Airport in Maryland Heights, Missouri, United States, is dedicated to restoring and preserving historical aircraft. The airplanes in the collection are all fabric-covered, and most are biplanes from the inter-war years (the "Golden age of flight"). The museum's volunteers maintain most of these aircraft in full working order. This is one of the largest collections of flying classic aircraft in America.
