Unorganized East Timiskaming District is an unorganized area (Canada), unorganized area in the Canada, Canadian province of Ontario, comprising the unincorporated portions of the Timiskaming District, Ontario, Timiskaming District lying east of the municipal boundaries of Kirkland Lake and north of the municipal boundaries of Gauthier, Ontario, Gauthier, Larder Lake, Ontario, Larder Lake and McGarry, Ontario, McGarry. The division does not encompass any named communities, comprising only a small number of residential and recreational properties in the geographic townships of Arnold, Katrine Township, Ontario, Katrine and Ossian. The division encompasses 248.84 square kilometres, and had no population in the Canada 2011 Census. Gauthier is a township municipality in Timiskaming District the Northeastern Ontario, Canada. The township had a population of 138 in the Canada 2016 Census. Its main population centre is Dobie, located just north of Ontario Highway 66, east of Kirkland Lake. The township has just one other named place, Northlands Park, west of Dobie on Ontario Highway 672 just north of Highway 66. The division encompasses 10,239.58 square kilometres, and had a population of 3,257 in the Canada 2016 Census. Rouyn-Noranda ( 2021 population 42,313) is a city on Osisko Lake in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. The city of Rouyn-Noranda is a coextensive with a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and census division (CD) of Quebec of the same name. Their geographical code is 86. History The city of Rouyn (named for Jean-Baptiste Rouyn, a captain in the Régiment Royal Roussillon of Louis-Joseph de Montcalm) appeared after copper was discovered in 1917. Katrine Township, Ontario
Katrine Township is an unincorporated geographic township in the Unorganized East part of Timiskaming District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. A small part of Sullivan Lake, the source of the Misema River, is in the township. Misema Lake, further downstream on the Misema River, is partly in the township and is the location of the mouth of the Little Misema River. McGarry, Ontario
McGarry is an incorporated township in Timiskaming District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It includes the communities of Virginiatown, North Virginiatown, and Kearns. The township borders with Quebec to the east, along Highway 66 between Kirkland Lake and Rouyn-Noranda. The northern border of the township forms part of the border between Timiskaming District and Cochrane District. Highway 66 was rerouted in 2017 because of concerns that aging mine shafts under the road could cause it to collapse. J.T. Kearns (after whom one of the communities was named) staked a claim in 1907, which became the Chesterville Gold Mines (1938–1952). An shaft connected 20 levels, and its 500-ton stamp mill produced a total of 458,880 ounces of gold. Virginiatown and North Virginiatown were built to house the Kerr Addison workers. Larder Lake, Ontario
Larder Lake is an incorporated municipal township and eponymous constituent dispersed rural community (community) in Timiskaming District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is located along Ontario Highway 66 and Ontario Highway 624 at the north-western part of the lake bearing the same name. The area of the township is and includes the geographic townships of Hearst, McVittie and Skead. Located within the "Larder Lake-Cadillac Fault Zone", a geologic region rich in precious metals, the town was the site of the first gold rush in northeastern Ontario.
