(The list cuts off around the early 2000s, missing another 10+ years of games from the dwindling era of arcade popularity; though some still exist in specific locales.) Fonz (arcade)
is a 1976 car driving arcade racing video game developed and released by Sega in February 1976. Later the same year, Sega released two motorbike racing variants, (released in August) and ''Moto-Cross'', which were in turn re-branded as ''Fonz'', in November 1976. The game was based on the character Fonzie (portrayed by Henry Winkler) from the 1970s TV show ''Happy Days'', with the slogan being "TV's hottest name, Your hottest game." ''Steeplechase'' is an sports video game by released in arcades 1975 by Atari, Inc. Developed by Atari subsidiary Kee Games, it simulates a steeplechase-style horse race. It was distributed in Japan by Nakamura Seisakusho (Namco) in 1976. Gameplay Up to six players can play against each other, each choosing a horse while the computer controls the seventh horse on the bottom. Each player's horse begins galloping, and the players must jump over obstacles in their lanes by pressing their colored buttons. The horse that successfully jumps all obstacles smoothly becomes the fastest horse and wins. ''Indy 800'' is an arcade racing video game released in 1975 by Atari Inc. It was distributed in Japan by Nakamura Seisakusho (Namco). Technology The game is housed in a large custom rectangular cabinet that takes up . Each side of the cabinet has two steering wheels and four pedals. The 25 inch monitor is set in to the top face of the cabinet and looked down upon. The game uses a full color RGB display and does not use color overlays. The processing electronics consist of a card cage that includes a "Backplane" or "Motherboard", eight identical car function boards, and three unique, common processing boards that the backplane board supports and interconnects. Marketed with the slogan “Hi Way — All It Needs Is Wheels,” it was Atari's first game to use a sit-down arcade cabinet.
