Serge Lepeltier
Serge Lepeltier (born 12 October 1953 in Le Veurdre, Allier) is a French politician. He studied at HEC Paris. He was mayor of Bourges in 1995 and again in 2001. He was elected senator of the Cher ''département'' on 27 September 1998. He won the municipal elections in Bourges in 1995 over the communist candidate. He briefly acted as President of the Rally for the Republic in 2002 after Michèle Alliot-Marie was nominated as Minister of Defence, and just before the Party was officially dissolved within the Union for a Popular Movement. On 31 March 2004, Jean-Pierre Raffarin's government announced a reshuffle because of the massive losses in the French regional elections. Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) is a plant conservation biology, conservation Charitable organization, charity based in Kew, Surrey, England. It is a membership organisation, working with 800 botanic gardens in 118 countries, whose combined work forms the world's largest plant conservation network. Founded in 1987, BGCI is a Charitable organization, registered charity in the United Kingdom, and its members include the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, as two of its key supporters. The founder and director from 1987 to 1993 was Professor Vernon H Heywood. He was followed in 1994 by Dr. Peter Wyse Jackson (as Secretary-General) who led BGCI till 2005 when Sara Oldfield succeeded him. Conservatoire National Du Pélargonium
The Conservatoire national du Pélargonium is a municipal botanical garden specializing in pelargoniums, which is located within the municipal greenhouses (''serres municipales'') on the Chemin Tortiot, Bourges, Cher, Centre-Val de Loire, France. The collection was established in 1986 and now contains 250 pelargonium species and 1,100 cultivars. Le Printemps de Bourges is an annual music festival that is held in Bourges, France, over the course of five days. It is now a major event in France and Europe. History The festival was created in 1977 (by , , and ). With its span of 35 years, its history reflects musical trends and evolution over time. Every springtime, thousands of spectators come from all parts of France and foreign countries to see an eclectic variety of concerts. The festival encompasses some 60 shows, with over 200 artists on 13 stages within a week; these shows represent diverse genres, and both well-known artists and young musical talents. The ever-growing public is composed primarily of young people (91% are under 35), and over 200,000 people attend the festival each year. Bourges 18 was a football club based in Bourges, France. In the summer of 2008, FC Bourges, which formerly spent eleven seasons in the Division 2, merged with Bourges-Asnières 18 to create Bourges 18. The club's colours were red and blue. Musée Du Berry
The Musée du Berry is a museum in Bourges, France. Its collection was founded by Claude-Denis Mater in 1834. At first, the museum was housed in part of the Palais Jacques-Cœur, and later in what is now the Hôtel d'Angleterre on rue Jacques Cœur. In 1891, it moved to its present home in the Hôtel Cujas. It was renamed the Musée du Berry in 1912. History The original collection of the museum was founded by Claude-Denis Mater. The foundation of the museum was established by the prefect of Cher, the Count of Lapparent, by the decree issued on June 30, 1834. Canal De Berry
The Canal de Berry is a disused canal in France which links the Canal latéral à la Loire at Marseilles-lès-Aubigny with the Cher (river), Cher at Noyers-sur-Cher, Noyers rejoining the Loire near Tours.
