''Timeless'' is Hong Kong Mandopop artist Khalil Fong's cover album. It was released on August 11, 2009. In ''Timeless'', Khalil selected 10 classic songs to cover, including Stevie Wonder’s “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life”, Glenn Medeiros’s Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You, Michael Jackson’s Bad, Ray Charles’s Georgia on My Mind and Eric Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight. Apart from English songs, he covered the Mandarin classics like Faye Wong’s Red Bean and A-mei Kulilay Amit (, born 9 August 1972), better known by her stage name A-Mei, is a Taiwanese Puyuma singer and record producer. Mandopop
Mandopop or Mandapop refers to Mandarin popular music. The genre has its origin in the jazz-influenced popular music of 1930s Shanghai known as Shidaiqu; with later influences coming from Japanese enka, Hong Kong's Cantopop, Taiwan's Hokkien pop, and in particular the Campus Song folk movement of the 1970s. 'Mandopop' may be used as a general term to describe popular songs performed in Mandarin. Though Mandopop predates Cantopop, the English term was coined around 1980 after " Cantopop" became a popular term for describing popular songs in Cantonese. "Mandopop" was used to describe Mandarin-language popular songs of that time, some of which were versions of Cantopop songs sung by the same singers with different lyrics to suit the different rhyme and tonal patterns of Mandarin. Glenn Alan Medeiros (born June 24, 1970) is an American former musician, singer, and songwriter who achieved chart success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He is best known on the national and international music scene for his 1987 global smash, "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You", and " She Ain't Worth It", a US chart-topper in 1990. He has remained regularly involved in the music industry in his home state of Hawaii (including several headliner and related musical variety shows in Waikiki) long after achieving global success decades ago. "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You" is a song written by composers Michael Masser and Gerry Goffin. It was originally recorded by American singer and guitarist George Benson for his 1985 studio album ''20/20'', released by Warner Bros. Records. This original version was produced by co-writer Masser, and was released as a single in Europe only in 1985. "Georgia on My Mind" is a 1930 song written by Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell and first recorded that same year by Hoagy Carmichael. However, the song has been most often associated with soul singer Ray Charles, who was a native of the U.S. state of Georgia and recorded it for his 1960 album '' The Genius Hits the Road''. In 1979, the State of Georgia designated Ray Charles' version the official state song. The song has become part of the Great American Songbook tradition. Background and original recording It has been asserted that Hoagy Carmichael wrote the song about his sister, Georgia.
