Tim Sample
Timothy J. Sample (born ) is a New England humorist, famous both for his presentation and his Maine accent. He has sold well over a million copies of his books, albums, and videos, including four albums and a video for the Bert and I company. In the summer of 1993, Sample was recruited by Charles Kuralt as a correspondent for the Emmy Award winning TV Show CBS News Sunday Morning. Over the following 11 years, Sample produced over 100 "Postcards from Maine" segments which introduced millions of CBS viewers around the nation and the world to the lifestyles of Mainers. Early life Born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, and raised in Boothbay Harbor, Sample and his wife have a home in Calais, and despite the traveling his career calls him to do, he has never lived (or wanted to live) anywhere other than in Maine. Susan Margaret Collins (born December 7, 1952) is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from Maine. A member of the Republican Party, she has held her seat since 1997 and is Maine's longest-serving member of Congress. Born in Caribou, Maine, Collins is a graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. Beginning her career as a staff assistant for Senator William Cohen in 1975, she became staff director of the Oversight of Government Management Subcommittee of the Committee on Governmental Affairs (which later became the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs) in 1981. Federal Election Commission'', which deregulated limits on independent expenditure group spending for or against specific candidates. From Stump To Ship
''From Stump to Ship'' is an amateur industrial film by Alfred K. Ames, former State Senator and owner of the Machias Lumber Company, in Machias, Maine as well as by Dr. Howard Kane of Washington, DC. The half-hour 16mm film was shot over the winter of 1930 in the logging woods and shows logging in the forest with hand tools and horses, then moves to the spring log drive, with loggers using peaveys to break up log jams on icy rivers as the logs are moved from the forest to the mill. Detailed views of mill work, changing the bandsaw, and making shingles. Lumber is loaded onto schooners in Machias for transport to New York. The film was originally silent, with a typed script which Ames read aloud when he showed the film. In 1985, with funds from the Maine Humanities Council, the narration was recorded with the film. ''Drunken Fireworks'' is an audiobook novella written by Stephen King and read by Tim Sample released in June 2015. It is a humorous story that predominantly takes the form of a police statement given by the protagonist, Alden McCausland, to the Castle County police chief Andy Clutterbuck, followed by a closing conversation between Alden and the officers present. The story followsthe McCauslands coming into "new money" and a developing yearly competition of one-upmanship dubbed the "Fourth of July arms race" with their old money neighbors across the lake, the Massimos, who may or may not be "connected". What starts as a friendly, competitive fireworks display competition escalates each year until it ends in disaster.
