Tim Mertens
Tim Mertens (born 7 February 1986 in Mechelen) is a former Belgian professional racing cyclist. He got most of his successes on the track. Mertens retired at the end of the 2013 season, at the age of 27. 2009 Danmark Rundt
The 2009 Danmark Rundt was a men's road bicycle race held from 29 July to 2 August 2009. It was the 19th edition of the men's stage race, which was established in 1985. The race was won by Danish rider Jakob Fuglsang of Team Saxo Bank, making this his second consecutive victory in the race. Maurizio Biondo of Ceramica Flaminia finished second by just three seconds with Roger Hammond of Cervélo third. Schedule Teams Fifteen teams took part in the 2009 race. Team Columbia-HTC was due to compete but withdrew as it was unable to field a team. The Rund um Köln is a classic cycling race around the German city of Cologne. Since 2005 it is part of the UCI Europe Tour, being organised as 1.1 race (in 2007 the race was categorised as 1.HC). It is one of the oldest cycling races still running in Germany – where media-driven hostility towards professional cycling in the wake of repeated doping scandals has severely weakened the economic structure and viability of the sport.
