Tim Lane (journalist)
Timothy Lane (born 18 September 1951 in Launceston, Tasmania) is a veteran Australian sports broadcaster and journalist with the Seven Network and Fairfax. He currently calls Australian rules football ( AFL) matches for 3AW radio on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and writes for ''The Age'' newspaper. Additionally, beginning in 2018, he is a lead commentator for the Seven Sport test cricket coverage. Between 2003 and 2011, he was also an AFL commentator for Network Ten. Lane is well known for commentating on a variety of sports for decades—particularly cricket—as well as AFL and as a track-and-field commentator for both the Summer Olympics and Commonwealth Games. He famously called Cathy Freeman for ABC Grandstand radio at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The J. R. Simplot Company (commonly referred to as Simplot) is an agribusiness company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. History Simplot was founded in 1929 by 20-year-old John Richard Simplot near the agricultural community of Declo in south central Idaho, United States. Edward Joseph McGuire AM (born 29 October 1964) is an Australian television presenter, journalist and Australian Football League commentator. He is also an occasional ''Herald Sun'' newspaper columnist. He hosts Channel Nine’s Millionaire Hotseat, Monday night episodes of Footy Classified, and Network 10’s coverage of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. McGuire is the former president of the Collingwood Football Club; he stood down in 2021 after criticism of his handling of a report outlining systemic racism and involvement in racism at the club. He has worked in sports journalism, sports broadcasting and as a game show host. ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Until an organisational restructure in 2017/2018, ABC Television was also the name of a division of the ABC. The name was also used to refer to the first and for many years the only national ABC channel, before it was renamed ABC1 and then again to ABC TV. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL).
