Tim Cedar
Part Chimp are an English rock band from Camberwell, London, England, that were formed by Tim Cedar, Jon Hamilton and Nick Prior in 2000. Their current line-up is Tim (vocals and guitar), Jon (drums), Joe McLaughlin (bass), Robin Freeman (bass), and Iain Hinchliffe (guitar). They play rock music with elements of noise music, noise. Both in recordings and live performances, Part Chimp have a reputation for sounding extremely loud. Their records have been released in the UK by Rock Action Records, in Europe and Japan by Play It Again Sam (record label), Play It Again Sam, and in the US by Monitor records. History Tim Cedar and Jon Hamilton had previously played together in Ligament. Nick Prior (bass), formerly of Scarfo, joined Ligament for their last tour. When Ligament split, the threesome played one show as Part Chimp in late 2000, before adding Iain Hinchliffe on guitar. Nick Prior left the band in February 2004 and was replaced by Joe McLaughlin. Camberwell
Camberwell () is a district of South London, England, in the London Borough of Southwark, southeast of Charing Cross. Camberwell was first a village associated with the church of St Giles and a common of which Goose Green is a remnant. This early parish included the neighbouring hamlets of Peckham, Dulwich, Nunhead, and part of Herne Hill (the rest of Herne Hill was in the parish of Lambeth). History Henry Owings began publishing ''Chunklet'' in Athens, GA, while freelancing for alternative newsweekly ''Flagpole Magazine''. “The main reason the mag started was due to my dissatisfaction with how my writing was handled in the ''Flaghole'',” Owings says, although he has intimated that ''Chunklet'' is a sanctuary for self-hating critics. Torche / Part Chimp
''Torche / Part Chimp'' is a split EP between the American metal band Torche and British rock band Part Chimp. The album was released on November 5, 2011, through Chunklet Industries—a date which coincided with a tour of the eastern United States featuring both bands. The vinyl edition of the album was limited to 500 copies. Torche's side of the record features three cover songs of the American indie rock band Guided by Voices, and Part Chimp's side features two newly recorded songs. Part Chimp's songs are also some of the final tracks they recorded before disbanding. The split EP received average to positive reviews from music critics. Jason Heller of ''Alternative Press'' praised Torche's choice to cover three Guided by Voices songs, and noted that the two artists are, "surprisingly sympathetic pop titans separated only by volume and age."
