Till (film)
''Till'' is a 2022 biographical drama film directed by Chinonye Chukwu and written by Michael Reilly, Keith Beauchamp (filmmaker), Keith Beauchamp, and Chukwu, and produced by Beauchamp, Reilly, and Whoopi Goldberg. It is based on the true story of Mamie Till, Mamie Till-Bradley, an educator and activist who pursued justice after the murder of her 14-year-old son Emmett Till, Emmett in August 1955. The film stars Danielle Deadwyler as Mamie and Jalyn Hall as Emmett. Kevin Carroll (actor), Kevin Carroll, Frankie Faison, Haley Bennett, Jayme Lawson, Tosin Cole, Sean Patrick Thomas, John Douglas Thompson, Roger Guenveur Smith, and Goldberg also appear in supporting roles. Chinonye Chukwu
Chinonye Chukwu ( ; born May 19, 1985) is a Nigerian-American film director best known for the drama films ''Clemency (film), Clemency'' and ''Till (film), Till''. She is the first African-American woman to win the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival, Sundance. Early life and education Of Igbo people, Igbo heritage, Chukwu was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. When she was just over a year old, her family moved to Oklahoma, and moved again to Fairbanks, Alaska, Fairbanks, Alaska when she was six. They visited Nigeria often. Growing up in Alaska, Chukwu was often the only African-American in her classes, and she struggled to fit in. ''Women of the Movement'' is an American historical drama miniseries that premiered on ABC on January 6, 2022. Created by Marissa Jo Cerar, the series centers on Mamie Till-Mobley, played by Adrienne Warren, who devoted her life to seeking justice for her murdered son Emmett, played by Cedric Joe.
