Thunderbolt Fantasy
, also known as ''Thunderbolt Fantasy: Sword Seekers'', is a Japanese-Taiwanese glove puppetry television series created and written by Gen Urobuchi and produced as a collaboration between Japanese companies Nitroplus and Good Smile Company and Taiwanese puppet production company Pili International Multimedia, creators of ''Pili (TV series), Pili'' ("Thunderbolt") series. The series began airing in Japan starting July 8, 2016 and is being simulcast by Bahamut and iQiyi Taiwan in Taiwan, bilibili in Mainland China, and Crunchyroll in the United States. It has two official languages: the Taiwanese Hokkien, Taiwanese Min-Nan version aired in Taiwan, and the Japanese version aired outside Taiwan. A manga adaptation illustrated by Yui Sakuma began serialization in Kodansha's ''Weekly Morning'' magazine on July 21, 2016. Gen Urobuchi
is a Japanese novelist, visual novel writer and anime screenwriter. He is known for being the co-creator of the highly acclaimed and commercially successful anime series '' Puella Magi Madoka Magica'', which earned him the Tokyo Anime Award for Best Scriptwriter, as well as the writer of the 2003 visual novel ''Saya no Uta'', the 2012 anime ''Psycho-Pass'', the light novel and anime '' Fate/Zero'', and the 2013–2014 tokusatsu show ''Kamen Rider Gaim''. He currently works at Nitroplus and Nitro+chiral. Seinen Manga
is an editorial category of Japanese comics marketed toward young adult men. In Japanese, the word ''seinen'' literally means "youth", but the term "''seinen'' manga" is also used to describe the target audience of magazines like ''Weekly Manga Times'' and ''Weekly Manga Goraku'' which cater specifically to men's interests, and are marketed towards a demographic of young adult men between the ages of 18 and 40. Crossguard
On a sword, the crossguard, or cross-guard, the individual bars on either side known as quillon, is a bar of metal at right angles to the blade, placed between the blade and the hilt. The crossguard was developed in the European sword around the 10th century for the protection of the wielder's hand. ''Pili'' (Traditional Chinese: 霹靂, Pe̍h-oē-jī: Phek-le̍k, "Thunderbolt") is a glove puppetry show from Taiwan. It is made by Pili International Multimedia. The TV series debuted in 1984, and it still continues today. It is one of the most popular TV shows in Taiwan. Unlike traditional puppet shows, ''Pili'' uses computer generated imagery (CGI) during action sequences. The delicate design of the appearance and characteristics of each puppet has made ''Pili'' a well-known TV series in Taiwan. In 2000, the spin-off film ''Legend of the Sacred Stone'' was released. It was released on VHS and DVD in Taiwan and Japan (the Japanese edit significantly shortened).
