Three Fact Fader
''Three Fact Fader'' is the second full-length studio album by British shoegazing band Engineers, released on 6 July 2009 through the Kscope label. The album was produced by the band along with Ken Thomas, who also worked with Sigur Rós, M83 and Maps, with artwork created by Tom Sheehan. To start promoting the record, the band played their first live gig in over two years on 10 July 2009 at the Bush Hall in London. They were joined onstage by special guest Ulrich Schnauss (who would later join Engineers as a full-time member). Richard Barbieri of British progressive rock group Porcupine Tree also performed that night. The ''Three Fact Fader'' minisite was set up by Kscope containing information about the album. A single for "Clean Coloured Wire" was released on 20 July 2009, and a video clip for the song was released through the minisite to accompany the single. Engineers (band)
Engineers are a British shoegazing/dream pop band. The band was formed in London in 2003 by bassist/guitarist/keyboardist Mark Peters, singer/guitarist Simon Phipps, bassist/guitarist Dan MacBean (previously known as guitarist of The Shining, and drummer Andrew Sweeney. After the release of their second album '' Three Fact Fader'' in 2009, MacBean and Sweeney left the band, and were replaced by bassist/vocalist Daniel Land, drummer Matthew Linley, and keyboardist Ulrich Schnauss. Phipps and Land would later leave the band before the release of 2014's '' Always Returning.'' Engineers' sound has been described as "hazy, ethereal and atmospheric" and the band often cites the works of The Beach Boys, Brian Eno, Cocteau Twins, Spiritualized and Pink Floyd as influences. Daily Express
The ''Daily Express'' is a national daily United Kingdom middle-market newspaper printed in tabloid format. Published in London, it is the flagship of Express Newspapers, owned by publisher Reach plc. It was first published as a broadsheet in 1900 by Sir Arthur Pearson. Its sister paper, the ''Sunday Express'', was launched in 1918. In June 2022, it had an average daily circulation of 201,608. Porcupine Tree
Porcupine Tree are an English rock band formed by musician Steven Wilson in 1987. During an initial career spanning more than twenty years, they earned critical acclaim from critics and fellow musicians, developed a cult following, and became an influence for new artists. The group carved out a career at a certain distance away from mainstream music, being described by publications such as ''Classic Rock'' and ''PopMatters'' as "the most important band you’d never heard of". The band began as a solo project for Wilson, who initially created all of the band's music himself. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog; sometimes conflated with art rock) is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early 1970s. Richard Barbieri
Richard Barbieri (born 30 November 1957) is an English musician, composer and sound designer. Originally a member of new wave band Japan (and their brief 1989–1991 reincarnation as Rain Tree Crow), more recently he is known as the keyboard player in the progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, which he joined in 1993. Aside from the founder Steven Wilson, he is the longest tenured member of Porcupine Tree. Biography Japan (1974–1982) Although initially perceived as a 'hyped' band, Japan went on to record five studio albums culminating in '' Tin Drum'' which stayed in the UK charts for a year. Ulrich Schnauss
Ulrich Schnauss (born 1977) is a German electronic musician and producer based in London, England. He is best known for being a member of Tangerine Dream from 2014 to 2020. Biography Ulrich Schnauss was born in the northern German seaport of Kiel in 1977. He had piano lessons when he was seven. He became interested in a range of music: My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Tangerine Dream, Chapterhouse, and early bleep and breakbeat tracks. There was not much opportunity to see his musical influences in Kiel, so he moved to Berlin in 1996. Schnauss' musical output began under the pseudonyms of View to the Future and Ethereal 77. These electronica and drum-driven pieces were noticed by Berlin electronica label CCO (City Centre Offices), to which Schnauss sent CDs on a regular basis. James Kenneth Chapman, known professionally as Maps, is an English record producer, songwriter and remixer. ''Start Something'' In 2006, he recorded his ''Start Something'' EP by himself on his 16-track recorder. He released it on his own record label, Last Space Recordings, and it was met with some critical acclaim. The single " Lost My Soul" polled at number 26 in ''NME'''s Top 50 singles of 2006. ''We Can Create'' On 19 May 2007, his debut studio album '' We Can Create'' was released on Mute Records. Since its release, the album has been seen as a critical success even though sales have been fairly modest. M83 (band)
M83 are a French electronic music group formed in Antibes in 1999 and currently based in Los Angeles. Initially a duo of multi-instrumentalists Nicolas Fromageau and Anthony Gonzalez, Fromageau parted ways shortly after touring for their second album ''Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts''. Gonzalez remains the sole constant member of the project, serving as the primary songwriter and lead vocalist. Sigur Rós
Sigur Rós () is an Icelandic post-rock band from Reykjavík, active since 1994. The band comprises singer and guitarist Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm, and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson. Known for their ethereal sound, frontman Jónsi's falsetto vocals, and their use of bowed guitar, Sigur Rós incorporate classical and minimal aesthetic elements.
