Thrall is a city in Williamson County, Texas, United States. Its population was 816 at the 2020 census. The name Thrall was chosen by the community to honor the Rev. Homer S. Thrall, a Methodist minister and historian much admired by local settlers and residents. Thrall was founded in 1876. Geography Thrall is located at (30.588640, –97.298707), about 35 miles northeast of Austin. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.1 km2), all of it land. It is located in Williamson County. Thrall High School
Thrall High School is a public secondary school located in Thrall, Texas. It is part of the Thrall Independent School District located in eastern Williamson County, and classified as a 2A school by the University Interscholastic League. In 2015, the school was rated " met standard" by the Texas Education Agency. History The town was called "Stiles Switch" in 1876, named after a local rancher and the arrival of the International-Great Northern Railroad. Stiles School opened in the 1880's. In 1901 the post office and the community were named after Homer S. Thrall, a local minister and historian who had written histories of Texas, including ''Thrall's School History of Texas''. In 1908, Stiles School was moved and renamed Thrall School. The Thrall High School building was constructed in 1938, and it opened in September that year. Multiracial Americans are Americans who have mixed ancestry of two or more races.
