Thornton High School (Colorado)
Thornton High School is a high school located in Thornton, Colorado that serves nearly 2,000 students and has approximately 130 staff members. History Merritt Hutton Junior-Senior High School served the communities of Northglenn and Thornton until the early 1970s, when it was scaled back to a junior high program and high school students began being served by two new high schools. Thornton High School opened in 1974. Campus The district's Five Star Stadium is adjacent to the school. The Adams County School District 12, commonly known as the Adams 12 Five Star Schools, is a public school district located in western Adams County, Colorado, United States. The district serves the suburban area immediately north of Denver including the communities of Broomfield, Federal Heights, Northglenn, Thornton, and Westminster. The City of Thornton is a home rule municipality located in Adams and Weld counties, Colorado, United States. The city population was 141,867, all in Adams County, at the 2020 United States Census, an increase of +19.44% since the 2010 United States Census. Thornton is the sixth most populous city in Colorado and the 191st most populous city in the United States. John Balistreri
John Balistreri (born 1962) is an American ceramic artist best known for his large-scale sculptures. He is currently a Professor of Art and the head of the ceramic art program at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, USA. Biography Born in Denver in 1962, Balistreri initially worked for his family greenhouse business, during which time he developed an interest in ceramics, building his first gas-fired kiln on the property. He obtained an associate degree from Colorado Mountain College, and later went on to study fine art at Kansas City Art Institute in 1986, before pursuing a master's degree at Kent State University in 1988. He built a 30 ft kiln while at Kent State University, one of the largest in the country. In 1996, Balistreri was named 'Head of Ceramics' at Bowling Green State University, with many of his students later becoming professors themselves. Melissa Deanne Holliday (born October 30, 1969) was ''Playboy'' magazine's Playmate of the Month for January 1995. Holliday also made an appearance on ''Baywatch'' that same year. Gale Ann Norton (born March 11, 1954) is an American politician and attorney who served as the 48th United States Secretary of the Interior under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2006. A member of the Republican Party, she previously served as the 35th Attorney General of Colorado from 1991 to 1999. Norton was the first woman to hold each of those posts. Loren Howard Snyder (born November 28, 1963) is a former American football quarterback in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Northern Colorado. Early years Snyder attended Thornton High School.
