Thomas White (musician)
Thomas White (born 30 April 1984) is an English, Brighton-based musician. Along with their brother, Alex, they form the nucleus of psych-pop band The Electric Soft Parade. They have released four albums and a six-track EP. They also contributes vocals and guitar to cult Brighton super-group Brakes, and drums and bass to Restlesslist and Clowns. Besides performing solo and in their own groups, White regularly appears as a session player for, among others, Patrick Wolf, British Sea Power, Levellers and Sparks. Early life Educated at Davigdor Infants, Somerhill Juniors and Hove Park schools, they signed their first record deal (with DB Records) whilst still 16 and studying for their GCSEs. Career June 2008 saw the release of their debut solo album, ''I Dream of Black''. Recorded entirely on cassette four-track, the album was considered extremely lo-fi by both fans and critics alike. Thomas White, (August 7, 1830 – April 21, 1888) was a Canadian journalist and politician. Life He was born in Montreal, Lower Canada in 1830, the son of Thomas White, a leather merchant who came to Canada from Ireland in 1826. White was educated at the High School of Montreal after it opened in 1843, then worked at a number of jobs before entering the printing trade with the Queen's Printer in Toronto around 1850. He moved to Quebec City in 1851 when that office moved there. In 1852, he assisted Stewart Derbishire in editing the ''Canada Gazette''. He married Esther Vine at Quebec in 1853. Later that year, he founded the ''Peterborough Review'' with his brother-in-law. He also served as reeve of Peterborough. From 1860 to 1864, he studied law with Sidney Smith at Cobourg but soon returned to journalism. Tom White (Nebraska Politician)
Tom White (born October 26, 1956) is a former member of the unicameral Nebraska Legislature from Omaha, Nebraska. He represented the 8th District, which consists of the Benson and Dundee neighborhoods in Omaha. Born in Columbus, Nebraska, he received his B.A. in philosophy and history from Regis University in 1979. He graduated from Creighton University School of Law in 1983. He was elected to the Legislature in 2006. He served on the Business and Labor, Revenue, and Urban Affairs Committees, as well as the Committee on Committees and Executive Board. He also served as the Vice Chair of the Retirement Systems Committee from 2007 to 2008. Sir Thomas Astley Woollaston White, 5th Baronet, of Tuxford and Wallingwells (13 May 1904 – 16 May 1996), was the son of Sir Archibald White, 4th Baronet. Family Sir Thomas married Daphne Margaret Athill on 8 July 1935, whereupon she became Lady White. The couple spent their honeymoon at Barrogill Castle, which was bought in 1952 by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and renamed the Castle of Mey. Sir Thomas and his family lived on the Torhousemuir Estate, near Wigtown in Dumfries and Galloway. His father bought the estate in 1944 from Lord John FitzRoy. The sole child of Sir Thomas and Lady White was Bridget Juliet White (31 August 1935 – 5 April 2023 at Torhousemuir). Sir Thomas Woollaston White, 1st Baronet of Tuxford and Wallingwells (20 January 1767 – 28 October 1817) was the eldest son and heir of Taylor and Sarah White. Sir Thomas Woollaston White, 2nd Baronet, of Tuxford and Wallingwells (3 October 1801 – 7 August 1882), was 16 years old when he succeeded his father Sir Thomas White, 1st Baronet, in his titles and estates. Being a minor when he succeeded, he was cared for by two guardians, Sir Frederick Gustavus Fowke, Bt., of Lowesby Hall in the County of Leicestershire, and his cousin Henry Gally Knight of Langold. Gally Knight was a well-known archaeologist and the author of ''Ecclesiastical Architecture of Italy and Normandy'', amongst others. White attended Rugby School in Warwickshire, before joining the 16th Lancers. Marriage and family On 4 March 1824, White married Georgina Ramsay, the youngest daughter of George Ramsay, Esq., of Barnton and Sauchie.
