Thomas Poley
Thomas Poley (by 1523 – 1563 or 1564), of London and Ware, Hertfordshire was an English politician. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Melcombe Regis in 1545, Ipswich in April 1554 and Ripon in 1555. Thomas was the son of Edmund Poley and Mirabel Garneys. His brother, John Poley, married Anne, daughter of Thomas Wentworth, 1st Baron Wentworth. Their son, Edmund Poley was also an MP. On 11 July 1553 Thomas Cornwallis had declared Lady Jane Grey as Queen of England succeeding Edward VI at the Cornhill, Ipswich Ipswich () is a port town and borough in Suffolk, England, of which it is the county town. Ware, Hertfordshire
Ware is a town in Hertfordshire, England close to the county town of Hertford. It is also a civil parishes in England, civil parish in East Hertfordshire district. Location The town lies on the north–south A10 road (Great Britain), A10 road which is partly shared with the east–west A414 road, A414 (for Hertford to the west and Harlow to the east). There is a large Kingsmead Viaduct, viaduct over the River Lee (England), River Lea at Kings Meads. The £3.6m two-mile bypass opened on 17 January 1979. Ipswich Cornhill
The Cornhill in Ipswich is a historic town square in the centre of Ipswich, Suffolk. The square has been a gathering place for many centuries in the town, the earliest recorded event was the execution of the Ipswich Martyrs in the 16th century. Mary I
Mary I (18 February 1516 – 17 November 1558), also known as Mary Tudor, and as "Bloody Mary" by her Protestant opponents, was Queen of England and Ireland from July 1553 and Queen of Spain from January 1556 until her death in 1558. She is best known for her vigorous attempt to reverse the English Reformation, which had begun during the reign of her father, Henry VIII. Her attempt to restore to the Church the property confiscated in the previous two reigns was largely thwarted by Parliament, but during her five-year reign, Mary had over 280 religious dissenters burned at the stake in the Marian persecutions. Ipswich () is a port town and borough in Suffolk, England, of which it is the county town. The town is located in East Anglia about away from the mouth of the River Orwell and the North Sea. Edward VI
Edward VI (12 October 1537 – 6 July 1553) was King of England and Ireland from 28 January 1547 until his death in 1553. He was crowned on 20 February 1547 at the age of nine. Edward was the son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour and the first English monarch to be raised as a Protestant. During his reign, the realm was governed by a regency council because he never reached maturity. The council was first led by his uncle Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset (1547–1549), and then by John Dudley, 1st Earl of Warwick (1550–1553), who from 1551 was Duke of Northumberland. Edward's reign was marked by economic problems and social unrest that in 1549 erupted into riot and rebellion.
