Thomas Pearce, P.C. (c. 1670 1739), was an English army officer, a privy councillor and a member of parliament.D W Hayton, ''Pearce, Thomas, History of Parliament Onlineaccessed 24 December 2012/ref> During the War of the Spanish Succession he was deputy commander-in-chief in Portugal later serving in Gibraltar. Thomas Pearce (1820–1885) was an English clergyman, known under the pseudonym "Idstone" as an author on dogs. Life He was born at Hatford, the son of Francis Joseph Pearce, a clergyman who died when he was aged two, and his wife Mary Ann Rickards. Thomas Pearce (cricketer, Born 1847)
Thomas Albert Pearce (11 May 1847 – 20 August 1898) was an English people, English first-class cricketer. Pearce was born at Essendon, Hertfordshire, Essendon and made his debut in first-class cricket for the South of England cricket team, South against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) at Lord's in 1872. He next appeared in first-class cricket in 1874, when he played ''for'' the MCC against Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. He made two first-class appearances in 1875, playing for the South in the North v South fixture and for the Players of the South against the Gentlemen of the South. He made a final first-class appearance in 1876, appearing for the MCC against Nottinghamshire. Across his five first-class appearances, Pearce scored 35 runs, with a high score of 21. Thomas Ernest Pearce (19 February 1883 – 19 December 1941) was a British businessman and member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Pearce was born on 19 February 1883. His father Rev. Thomas William Pearce, O.B.E, LL.D. spent nearly half a century working in China as a missionary and translator, and was closely associated with the educational development in Hong Kong. Pearce went to boarding school in Blackheath, South London, from 1896–99; he attended the School for the Sons of Missionaries, the predecessor of Eltham College, where he excelled in cricket and rugby. When in 1912 the school moved to its current site, in Mottingham, South London, Pearce donated the Blackheath Cup, which is still awarded for all-round sporting excellence. Weymouth and Melcombe Regis was a parliamentary borough in Dorset represented in the English House of Commons, later in that of Great Britain, and finally in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was formed by an Act of Parliament of 1570 which amalgamated the existing boroughs of Weymouth and Melcombe Regis. Until 1832, the combined borough continued to elect the four Members of Parliament (MPs) to which its constituent parts had previously been entitled; the Great Reform Act reduced its representation to two Members, and the constituency was abolished altogether in 1885, becoming part of the new South Dorset constituency. Tom Pearce (cricketer)
Thomas Neill Pearce OBE (3 November 1905 – 11 April 1994) was an English cricketer and Rugby Union official. He was primarily a batsman for Essex and was captain for nearly 20 years. He also acted as secretary, chairman and president of Essex, and was also a Test selector for England. Cricket career Pearce made his first-class debut against Sussex at Leyton in 1929. He opened the batting, however number 6 was to become his usual position in the batting order. His selection was based on his high scoring in club cricket, at a time when Essex relied greatly on amateurs. During his first few years as an Essex player, he worked as a banker, however after two seasons he gave it up and started work in the wine trade. His first season as captain in 1933; a role he shared until 1938 with Denys Wilcox, saw Essex rise from 13th to 4th in the County Championship. Tom Mark Pearce (born 12 April 1998) is an English footballer who plays as a left-back for EFL League One club Wigan Athletic. Club career Leeds United Pearce started his career at Everton youth academy before joining Leeds United's academy in 2014. He rose up through the ranks of the Leeds youth academy. Thomas Richard Pearce
Thomas Richard Pearce (1859–1908), born Thomas Richard Millett, was an Irish ship master in the UK merchant marine. He served his apprenticeship on sailing ships with Aitken & Lilburn's Loch Line, and then rose through the ranks on steamships with the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company (RMSP). On sailing ships Pearce survived three shipwrecks: those of ''Eliza Ramsden'' in 1875, in 1878, and in 1879. When ''Loch Ard'' was wrecked he saved a passenger from drowning, for which the Victorian Humane Society awarded him his first ever Gold Medal. Pearce's stepfather was a ship master, both of Pearce's sons went to sea, and all three died in shipwrecks. In 1906 Pearce took early retirement due to ill-health. His death in 1908, aged only 49, prompted RMSP to found its superannuation fund.
