Thomas Olive
Thomas Olive was a deputy-List of Governors of New Jersey, governor of West Jersey from 1684–1685. The original name of Wellingborough for present-day Willingboro Township, New Jersey was after the community in England which was the home of Olive. Olive was the one who led the original settlers into that township. In 1676, along with the other proprietors of West Jersey, Olive signed the Concession and Agreement. Olive owned one share of West Jersey land as a proprietor. Wellingborough
Wellingborough ( ) is a large market and commuter town in the unitary authority area of North Northamptonshire in the ceremonial county of Northamptonshire, England, 65 miles from London and from Northampton on the north side of the River Nene. Originally named "Wendelingburgh" (the stronghold of Wændel's people), the Anglo-Saxon settlement is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as "Wendelburie". The town was granted a royal market charter in 1201 by King John. At the 2011 census, the town's built-up area had a population of 50,577. The Wellingborough built-up area also includes suburbs Wilby, Great Doddington, Little Irchester and Redhill Grange. History The town was established in the Anglo-Saxon period and was called "Wendelingburgh". Concession And Agreement
Concession and Agreement (full title: ''The Concession and Agreement of the Lords Proprietors of the Province of New Caesarea, or New Jersey, to and With All and Every the Adventurers and All Such as Shall Settle or Plant There'') was a 1664 document that provided religious freedom in the colony of New Jersey. It was issued as a proclamation for the structure of the government for the colony written in 1664 by the two proprietors, Lord John Berkeley and Sir George Carteret. The document promised religious freedom to all inhabitants of New Jersey, and also declared that the proprietors would be in charge of appointing the provincial governors. The first such governor to be appointed was Philip Carteret. The goal of the document was to entice more settlers to farm in New Jersey, so that the two proprietors could earn more profit by collecting quit-rents, annual fees paid on granted lands.
