Thomas L. Kennedy Secondary School
Thomas L. Kennedy Secondary School (aka, T. L. Kennedy Secondary School) is a school located in Mississauga, Ontario, that was erected in honour of former Premier of Ontario, Thomas Laird Kennedy. Kennedy had been a longtime resident of Streetsville (now part of Mississauga), where he was Master of the River Park Masonic Lodge. Thomas L. Kennedy Secondary School first opened its doors to approximately four hundred and fifty students in September 1953. Academics The premiere of T. L. Kennedy's Leadership Academy was in September 2013. Students apply for this program in grade 8. T.L. Kennedy began a new academic program in 2011 that allows students to obtain a " Specialist High Skills Major" in Business on their Ontario Secondary School diploma. Streetsville, Ontario
Streetsville (pop. 47,327) is a neighbourhood located in the northwestern corner of the city of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, on the Credit River. Although Streetsville occupies the west and east banks of the river, the majority is located on the west bank of the river. A town prior to the 1974 amalgamations that formed the City of Mississauga, it seeks to keep a "small town" charm by retaining a variety of historical buildings and streetscapes. Metalworks Studios is a music recording studio in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It was established in 1978 by Gil Moore of the Canadian rock group, Triumph. Over a span of 40 years, Metalworks has been the recipient of Canadian Music Week's 'Studio of the Year' 17 times. Since 1978, Metalworks Studios has expanded into a six studio facility offering in-house tracking, mixing and mastering, as well as video editing and DVD authoring. Triumph (band)
Triumph was a Canadian hard rock band formed in 1975 that was popular in the late 1970s and the 1980s, building on its reputation and success as a live band. Between its 16 albums and DVDs, it has received 18 gold and nine platinum awards in Canada and the United States. It was nominated for multiple Juno Awards, including the 'Group of the Year Award' in 1979, 1985, 1986, and 1987. It was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame in 2007, into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2008, and into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2019. Gil Moore
Gil Moore is a Canadian musician. Born in Toronto, Moore was the drummer and co-vocalist (sharing vocal duties with guitarist/vocalist Rik Emmett) of the Canadian power trio Triumph. Before Moore was in Triumph he was in a band called Sherman & Peabody which also featured Buzz Shearman of Moxy and Greg Godovitz of Goddo. He co-wrote and contributed lead vocals to a number of Triumph songs and also performed this function live. While Emmett's vocals and songwriting tended toward the more melodic side of Triumph, Moore's vocal and writing style was more blues/hard rock oriented, although on the original line-up's last two albums, Moore also began writing and singing lead on a number of softer, ballad-style songs. Thomas Laird Kennedy
Thomas Laird Kennedy (August 15, 1878 – February 13, 1959) was a politician in Ontario, Canada, and served briefly as the 15th premier of Ontario, from 1948 to 1949. He was first elected as the Conservative member for Peel in the 1919 provincial election. He had been a longtime resident of Streetsville (now part of Mississauga), Ontario, where he was master of River Park Masonic Lodge in 1908 and 1909. Kennedy was first appointed Minister of Agriculture in 1930 by Premier Howard Ferguson and continued in the position under Premier George S. Henry until the Conservative government's defeat in the 1934 provincial election. Kennedy was a casualty in the election losing his seat to the landslide that elected the government of Liberal Mitchell Hepburn. Kennedy returned to the legislature in the 1937 election and returned to government when the newly renamed Progressive Conservatives won the 1943 election.
