Thomas Downey High School
Thomas Downey High School (TDHS) is a High School in Modesto, California. It is one of the seven high schools in Modesto. Thomas Downey High is the second oldest high school in the city of Modesto and its doors opened to students in the Fall of 1951. Its mascot is the Knight, but they are sometimes humorously referred to as the "Downey Ducks." The school's current student population is approximately 2,000 in Grades 9 through 12. The movie ''American Graffiti'', written and directed by Downey graduate George Lucas, is based in Modesto but filmed in Petaluma, California. The school that students in the film attend is called "Dewey High", but is actually Petaluma High School, the architectural twin to Downey High. "Dewey High" is a reference to Downey. Modesto City School District is a public school district based in Stanislaus County, California, United States, with an enrollment of approximately 32,000 students. William Chris Heath (born March 10, 1939) is an American former professional baseball player who played catcher in the Major Leagues in parts of four seasons between and . Ron Whitney
Ronald Howard "Ron" Whitney (born October 5, 1942) is a retired American hurdler and sprinter. Known for his fast finish, he was sixth in the 400 m hurdles at the 1968 Summer Olympics. He had entered the race as one of the favorites, having been ranked #1 in the world in 1967 and winning the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the event for the second time earlier that year. At the Olympics, his first heat victory established a new Olympic record, only to be surpassed by David Hemery two days later. Previously he had been the Pan American Games champion in the same event. While working on his master's degree at Colorado State University, he was the 1967 Gold Medalist at the World University Games. Ann Veneman
Ann Margaret Veneman (born June 29, 1949) is an American attorney who served as the fifth executive director of UNICEF from 2005 to 2010. She previously served as the 27th United States Secretary of Agriculture from 2001 to 2005, and was the first, and to date the only, woman to hold that post. Veneman served for the entire first term of President George W. Bush, and she left to take the UNICEF position. Appointed by the U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan on January 18, 2005, she took over the post on May 1, 2005. Blake Smith (born December 9, 1987) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago White Sox in 2016. Career Smith attended Thomas Downey High School in Modesto, California, and then the University of California. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2nd round of the 2009 MLB draft as an outfielder. He began his career with the Ogden Dodgers of the Pioneer League in 2009 and was promoted to the Class-A Great Lakes Loons in 2010, where he hit .281 with 19 homers and 76 RBI in 115 games. In 2011 with the Advanced-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League he hit .294 with 16 homers and 63 RBI in 74 games. Joseph Oden Rudi (born September 7, 1946) is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a left fielder between and , most prominently as an integral member of the Oakland Athletics dynasty that won three consecutive World Series championships between 1972 and 1974. Laci Denise Peterson (born Rocha; May 4, 1975 — c. December 24, 2002) was an American woman who was the subject of a highly publicized murder case after she disappeared while eight months pregnant with her first child.
