Thomas Commerford
Thomas Commerford (August 1, 1855 in New York City - February 17, 1920 in Chicago) was an American actor on stage and in silent films. He was also known as Tom I. Comberford and T. I. Comberford. Commerford debuted in the Old Drury Theater, then worked with the troupes of Edwin Arden and Dore Davidson. He appeared in Lincoln J. Carter productions for more than 25 years. In 1913, he began acting in films with Essanay Studios. Edwin Arden
Edwin Hunter Pendleton Arden (February 4, 1864 – October 2, 1918) was an American actor, theatre manager, and playwright. Biography Arden was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Mary Berkley Hunter and Arden Richard Smith. After a common-school education he travelled west and worked in a number of different jobs, including as a mine-helper, cowboy, railroad brakeman, clerk, reporter, and theatre manager. In 1882, he made his debut as an actor with Thomas W. Keene's Shakespeare company. The next year, he married Keene's daughter Agnes Eagleson Keene. Their only child, daughter Mildred Arden, also became an actor. Around this time, he wrote several plays, including ''The Eagle's Nest'', ''Raglan's Way'', ''Barred Out'', and ''Zorah''. Dore Davidson
Dore Davidson (1851–March 7, 1930) was an American stage actor. He was also a film actor active during the silent era. He was also an author and a producer. Davidson was active in Yiddish theater before he began performing on Broadway. Broadway plays in which he appeared included ''Rollo's Wild Oat'' (1920), ''The Stronger Sex'' (1908), '' What the Butler Saw'' (1906), ''Mademoiselle Marni'' (1905), ''The Judgement of King Solomon'' (1902), ''To Have and to Hold'' (1901), and ''Humanity'' (1895). Essanay Studios
The Essanay Film Manufacturing Company was an early American motion picture studio. The studio was founded in 1907 in Chicago, and later developed an additional film lot in Niles Canyon, California. Its various stars included Francis X. Bushman, Gloria Swanson and studio co-owner, actor and director, Broncho Billy Anderson. It is probably best known today for its series of Charlie Chaplin comedies from 1915-1916. In the late 1916 it merged with other studios and stopped issuing films in the fall of 1918. According to film historian Steve Massa, Essanay is one of the important early studios, with comedies as a particular strength. Founding The studio was founded in 1907 in Chicago by George K.
