Thomas B. Walker, Jr.
Thomas Bidwell Walker Jr., also known as Tommy Walker, (December 23, 1923 – October 11, 2016) was an American investment banker, corporate director and philanthropist. A veteran of World War II, he started his career in investment banking in Tennessee and soon moved to Dallas, Texas. He became the main driving force behind the Dallas office of Goldman Sachs, where he "not only established Goldman Sachs' presence in the Southwest" but also "led the initial public offerings for many of the most important companies in Texas." Early life Thomas B. Walker Jr. was born on December 23, 1923, in Nashville, Tennessee. Walker was educated at the West End High School. Macular degeneration, also known as age-related macular degeneration (AMD or ARMD), is a medical condition which may result in blurred or no vision in the center of the visual field. Early on there are often no symptoms. Over time, however, some people experience a gradual worsening of vision that may affect one or both eyes. While it does not result in complete blindness, loss of central vision can make it hard to recognize faces, drive, read, or perform other activities of daily life. Visual hallucinations may also occur. Macular degeneration typically occurs in older people. Genetic factors and smoking also play a role. It is due to damage to the macula of the retina. Highland Park Presbyterian Church (HP Pres) is a Presbyterian church in University Park, Texas, with a Dallas post office address. In 2013, HP Pres voted to change its affiliation from Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. History HP Pres was first established in 1926, with 290 members. By January 1927, Dr. W.A. Alexander of Mobile, Alabama became the first pastor. A year later, in 1928, the church building designed by architect Mark Lemmon (1889–1975) was erected. From 1932 to 1937, Dr. Thomas W. Currie, Sr. served as the new pastor; he would later serve as President of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
