Thirukural Express
Thirukural Express is a superfast express train in India, running between Kanniyakumari in Tamil Nadu which is the southernmost tip of the Indian Subcontinent, and in New Delhi. From December 2020, it runs with newly manufactured LHB rakes. It is currently a bi-weekly train covering a distance of , making it one of the longest running superfast trains in the country. The train shares a common route and timetable with the Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Dindigul in return and from Madurai to Hazrat Nizamuddin in upward. Origin of the name Thirukkural is a book of verses on common ethics and morality written by Tamil Poet Thiruvalluvar. Tirunelveli (, ta, திருநெல்வேலி, translit=Tirunelveli) also known as Nellai ( ta, நெல்லை, translit=Nellai) and historically (during British rule) as Tinnevelly, is a major city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Indian locomotive class WAP-7 is a class of 25 Volt, kV Alternating current, AC Electric locomotive, electric locomotives that was developed in 1999 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) for Indian Railways. The model name stands for 5 ft 6 in gauge railway, broad gauge (W), AC Current (A), Passenger traffic (P) engine, 7th generation (7). They entered service in 2000. A total of 1424 WAP-7 have been built, with more units being built at CLW, Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) and Diesel-Loco Modernisation Works, Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW). The WAP-7 is one of the most successful locomotives of Indian Railways serving passenger trains for over 22 years. Electric Loco Shed, Royapuram is a motive power depot performing locomotive maintenance and repair facility for electric locomotives of the Indian Railways, located at Royapuram on the Chennai Beach–Katpadi section of the Chennai Suburban Railway network in Chennai, India. It is located in the Southern Railway zone and it is one of the three electric locomotive sheds of the Southern Railway, the others being at Erode (ED) and Arakkonam (AJJ) and is the newest in south India.
