Aung Thin ( my, အောင်သင်း; 17 April 1927 – 25 October 2014) was a Lifetime National Literary Award-winning writer in Myanmar (Burma) known for his continuous encouraging of youth to become a righteous man. Biography He was born on 17 April 1927 in Taungdwingyi Township, Magway Region, British Burma. His first article, ''Breaking Thayet Prison'' was printed in ''Myawaddy Magazine'' in 1959. He became a tutor at Rangoon University (University of Yangon) in 1962 but he refused to join Burma Socialist Programme Party. He worked for Mawlamyaing Degree College, Defence Services Academy and the University of Yangon as a lecturer in the 1960s and 1970s. He wrote more than 50 books on genres of ethical conducts, cultural knowledge and motivation of youth inspiration. He was awarded with lifetime National Literary Award in 2012. Htoo Eain Thin ( my, ထူးအိမ်သင်; ; born Kyaw Myint Lwin (, ); 1 July 1963 – 14 August 2004) was one of the most popular and respected Burmese singer-songwriters. He brought a new style of pop rock music to the Burmese music scene in mid-1980s, and was popular till his death in 2004. He released 14 solo albums in his 18-year career. Nyo Nyo Thin ( my, ညိုညိုသင်း; born 26 September 1967) is a Burmese lawyer and politician who previously served as a member of parliament in the Yangon Region Hluttaw for the Bahan Township No. 2 constituency. Phyu Phyu Thin ( my, ဖြူဖြူသင်း, ; born 23 December 1971) is a Burmese politician and HIV/AIDS activist who served as a House of Representatives MP for Mingala Taungnyunt Township from 2012 until her removal from office in the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. Political imprisonment On May 21, 2007, Phyu Phyu Thin was arrested by police in Yangon for organizing a prayer rally to call for the release of detained National League for Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Never told what crime she had committed, she was held for more than a month, and was released on July 2, 2007. As an activist, Phyu Phyu Thin has been an outspoken critic of the State Peace and Development Council, which she says is understating the number of HIV and AIDS cases in Myanmar.
