Thikkodian
P. Kunjanandan Nair (February 15, 1916 – January 28, 2001), better known by his pseudonym, Thikkodiyan, was an Indian playwright, novelist, lyricist and screenwriter of Malayalam. He was known for his contributions to the genre of radio plays and his autobiography, ''Arangu Kaanatha Nadan'' (''The actor who had never been on stage''), which detailed the socio-cultural development of Malabar in the post-independent period, fetched him a number of awards including the Kendra Sahithya Academy Award, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Biography and Autobiography, Vayalar Award and the Odakkuzhal Award. Thikkodi
Thikkodi is a small village near Koyilandy in Kozhikode district of Kerala state, south India. Thikkodi is famous for a coconut nursery, which is 100 years old. The nearest city is Kozhikode, which is 35 km from this village. One can see remains of an old lighthouse in Velliyamkallu in Thikkodi. Thikkodi is also famous for its mussels (kallumakaaya). Thikkodi is the birthplace of well known Malayalam author P. Kunhananandan Nair, better known by his pen name Thikodiyan. He was a multi-faceted personality. Beypore
Beypore or Beypur (formerly Beypoor) is an ancient port town and a locality town in Kozhikode district in the state of Kerala, India. It is located opposite to Chaliyam, the estuary where the river Chaliyar empties into Arabian Sea. Beypore is part of Kozhikode Municipal Corporation. The place was formerly known as Vaypura / Vadaparappanad and also as Beydary. Tippu Sultan, ruler of Mysore, named the town "Sultan Pattanam". There is a marina and a beach while ''Beypore port'' is one of the oldest ports in Kerala, which historically traded with the Middle East. Beypore is noted for building wooden ships, known as ''dhows'' or ''urus'' in the Malayalam language. Vaikkom Muhammad Basheer
Vaikom Muhammad Basheer (21 January 1908 – 5 July 1994), popularly referred to as Beypore Sulthan, was a writer of Malayalam literature. He was a writer, humanist, freedom fighter, novelist and short story writer, noted for his path-breaking, down-to-earth style of writing that made him equally popular among literary critics as well as the common man. His notable works include ''Balyakalasakhi'', ''Shabdangal'', ''Pathummayude Aadu'', ''Ntuppuppakkoranendarnnu'', ''Mathilukal'', ''Janmadinam'' and ''Anargha Nimisham'' and the translations of his works into other languages have earned him worldwide acclaim. ''Uttarayanam'' ( en, Throne of Capricorn) is a 1975 Malayalam-language film directed by G. Aravindan and written by Thikkodiyan. Aravindan debuted with this film. The film, which exposes opportunism and hypocrisy set against the backdrop of the Independence struggle, is inspired by Aravindan's own cartoon series, titled ''Cheriya Lokavum Valiya Manushyarum'' (''Small World and Big People''), which was published in ''Mathrubhumi'' for several years. The film is about Ravi, an unemployed young man, who has to face a series of encounters during his search for a job. Ravi reflects on the past struggles of the anti-British freedom fighters he has learned about from his paralyzed father. ''Pazhassi Raja'' is a 1964 Malayalam biographical film, directed and produced by Kunchako. It is written by well known playwright Thikkodiyan and is based on the life of warrior king Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja. It stars Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair in the title role, with Prem Nazir, Sathyan, Satyapal, S. P. Pillai, Rajashree and Pankajavalli in other important roles. ''Pazhassi Raja'' is the second historical film in Malayalam, the first one was ''Veluthamby Dalava'' (1962) by the same director. Kunchacko (19 February 1912 – 15 June 1976) was an Indian film producer and director who worked in the Malayalam film industry. His venture Udaya Studios influenced the gradual shift of Malayalam film industry from its original base of Madras, Tamil Nadu to Kerala. He is the producer of '' Jeevithanauka'' (1951), starring Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair. Career In 1947, he established Udaya Studio in Pathirappally, Alappuzha. In his early days, Kunchacko produced films under the banner of ''K & K Productions'', with the partnership of K. V. Koshy.
