Alexander Hall (January 11, 1894 – July 30, 1968) was an American film director, film editor and theatre actor. Biography Hall acted in the theatre from the age of four through 1914, when he began to work in silent movies. Following his military service in World War I, he returned to Hollywood and pursued a career in film production. He worked as a film editor and assistant director at Paramount Pictures until 1932, when he directed his first feature film, ''Sinners in the Sun''. From 1937 to 1947, he was a contract director at Columbia Pictures, where he earned a reputation for sophisticated comedies. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director for ''Here Comes Mr. Jordan'' (1941). From 1934 to 1936, Hall was married to actress Lane Sisters, Lola Lane. Allen Curtis Jenkins (born Alfred McGonegal; April 9, 1900 – July 20, 1974) was an American character actor and singer who worked on stage, film, and television. Life and career Jenkins was born on Staten Island, New York, on April 9, 1900. In 1959, Jenkins played the role of elevator operator Harry in the comedy ''Pillow Talk''. He was a member of Hollywood's so-called "Irish Mafia", a group of Irish-American actors and friends which included Spencer Tracy, James Cagney, Pat O'Brien and Frank McHugh. ''A Woman's Face'' is a 1941 American Drama (film and television), drama film directed by George Cukor and starring Joan Crawford, Melvyn Douglas and Conrad Veidt. It tells the story of Anna Holm, a facially disfigured blackmailer, who because of her appearance, despises everyone she encounters. When a plastic surgeon corrects this disfigurement, Anna becomes torn between the hope of starting a new life and a return to her dark past. Most of the film is told in Flashback (narrative), flashbacks as witnesses in a courtroom give their testimonies. Edward Gargan
Edward Gargan (July 17, 1902 – February 19, 1964) was an American film and television actor. Career He was born of Irish parents in Brooklyn, New York. He was the elder brother of actor William Gargan. As soon as he had left college, he went onto the stage and had extensive acting experience gained in plays like ''My Maryland'', ''Rose Marie'', and ''Good News'' before going into films. His Broadway credits include ''Face the Music'' (1931), ''Polly of Hollywood'' (1926) and ''Black Boy'' (1926). In 1930, Gargan played Patrolman Mulligan in a production of ''Strictly Dishonorable''. Many of his appearances were uncredited. Personal life and death Gargan was married to the former Catherine Conlan. He died February 19, 1964, at Columbus Hospital in New York City. He was 62.
