''Thelma'' is a 2017 Norway, Norwegian supernatural Thriller film, thriller Drama (film and television), drama film directed by Joachim Trier. The screenplay was written by Trier and Eskil Vogt. Joachim Trier
Joachim Trier () (born 1 March 1974) is a Danish-born Norwegian film director, best known for ''Oslo, August 31st'' (2011), ''Louder Than Bombs'' (2015), ''Thelma'' (2017), and '' The Worst Person in the World'' (2021). For the latter film, he was nominated for the Best Original Screenplay at the 94th Academy Awards, with the film also being nominated for Best International Feature. His films have been described as "melancholy meditations concerned with existential questions of love, ambition, memory, and identity." The Swedish Film Institute ( sv, Svenska Filminstitutet) was founded in 1963 to support and develop the Swedish film industry. The institute is housed in the ''Filmhuset'' building located in Gärdet, Östermalm in Stockholm. The building, completed in 1970, was designed by architect Peter Celsing. The Norwegian Film Institute ( no, Norsk filminstitutt) was founded in 1955 to support and develop the Norwegian film industry. On 1 April 2008, it was merged with Norwegian Film Fund, Norwegian Film Development, and Norwegian Film Commission to form the "'new' Norwegian Film Institute" under the auspices of the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Culture. Kaya Wilkins (born August 14, 1990), better known as Okay Kaya, is a Norwegian-American musician from New Jersey. History Wilkins was born in New Jersey and raised in Nesoddtangen, 4 miles outside of Oslo. Raised by her mother along with 5 brothers, she has both Scandinavian and African American roots. Wilkins' first release under the moniker of Okay Kaya was the song "Damn, Gravity", which was released in 2015. Three years later, she released her first full-length album, ''Both''. This is a list of submissions to the 90th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. The submitted motion pictures must be first released theatrically in their respective countries between 1 October 2016 and 30 September 2017.
