Theale Green School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in the village of Theale, Berkshire, England. The school has 646 pupils on roll, 99 of whom are in the sixth form. History Early years The school was founded as Theale Grammar School in 1963 by Ken J V Shield, a graduate of Northampton Grammar School and the University of Cambridge who had previously taught at Leeds Modern School and Hulme Grammar School, and had been deputy head at Thomas Bennett Community College in Crawley. Upon opening, the school was designed to provide education for 870 pupils. Throughout the 1960s the school was extensively expanded, with the addition of the gymnasium, music department, sixth form area, and numerous classrooms. Swanley is a town and civil parish in the Sevenoaks District of Kent, England, southeast of central London, adjacent to the Greater London boundary and within the M25 motorway periphery. The population at the 2011 census was 16,226. History In 1066, Swanley only consisted of a few cattle farms, surrounded in oak, sycamore and ash (Fraxinus) woodland. Because Swanley only consisted of a few homesteads, it was not mentioned in the Domesday Book. There is a theory that the placename Swanley developed from the Saxon term 'Swine-ley', "Ley" meaning a clearing in the woods and "swine" meaning pigs. Clere School
The Clere School is a small co-educational community secondary school in Burghclere. Although its postcode locates to Reading via Newbury, it is in Hampshire, England. The current Headteacher is Jon Beck, who has held the position since Easter 2021. The school caters for academic years 7 to 11, but does not have a Sixth Form. An Arts College, in the United Kingdom, is a type of specialist school that specialises in the subject fields of the performing, visual, digital and/or media arts. They were announced in 1996 and introduced alongside Sports Colleges to England in 1997, being one of the five "practical specialisms" of the specialist schools programme. They were then introduced to Scotland in 2005 and Northern Ireland in 2006. By 2011, when the programme ended, there were over 491 Arts Colleges in England.
