The World Log Lift Championships
The World Log Lift Championships (sometimes referred to as ''World Log Lift Challenge'') is an annual competition featuring strength athletes from all over the world, competing exclusively in the log clean and press. Created initially as part of the Strongman Champions League, it has since been part of Giants Live and the championship has been present in both series, Giants Live running one version of the championship and the World Log Lift Federation taking over the Strongman Champions League's variant of the championship. History In its inaugural year, the Strongman Champions League introduced the World Log Lift Championships. The event had been a staple of strongman competitions since the early 1980s. Clean And Press
The clean and press is a two-part weight training exercise whereby a loaded barbell is lifted from the floor to the shoulders (the clean) and pushed overhead (the press). The lift was a component of the sport of Olympic weightlifting from 1928 to 1972, but was removed due to difficulties in judging proper technique. Movement Clean phase In the clean movement, after taking a big breath and setting the back, the lifter jumps the bar up through triple extension (in very quick succession) of the hips, knees and then ankles. When the legs have driven the bar as high as possible, the lifter pulls under the bar by violently shrugging (contracting) the trapezius muscles of the upper back ("traps") dropping into a deep squat position and spinning the hands around the bar so the elbows are extended in front. Edward Stephen Hall (born 15 January 1988) is an English media personality, actor, boxer, and former strongman. He won the World's Strongest Man 2017 competition. Hall has also won national competitions such as UK's Strongest Man, Britain's Strongest Man, and England's Strongest Man multiple times. Graham Hicks (born 15 November 1985 in Morecambe, Lancashire) is an English strongman and powerlifter. He won the 2019 Britain's Strongest Man competition and placed second in 2014 and 2018. He is also a two time Europe's Strongest Man bronze medalist. Personal life Graham Hicks was born in 1985 in Morecambe, Lancashire. Patrik Baboumian (, fa, پاتریک بابومیان; born 1 July 1979) is an Iranian-born German-Armenian retired strongman and former bodybuilder. He promotes veganism. Early life Baboumian was born on 1 July 1979 in Abadan, the son of Armenian parents. He emigrated to Germany with his mother and grandmother at the age of seven. Vytautas Lalas (born 21 July 1982) is a Lithuanian professional strongman the winner of the 2013 Arnold Strongman Classic and runner up of the 2012 World's Strongest Man. Strongman Lalas won the junior Lithuanian championships in 2005, and Lithuania's Strongest Man in 2010. Lalas won the Giants Live Poland event on 8 August 2010.
