The Vernons
The Vernons is an Australia blues rock formed on the Gold Coast, Queensland in 2011. History The Vernons formed in 2011 when James Nikiforides asked Jonny Nyst to join a band he had put together with Elliot Gooch and Andrew Lahey. Lahey left the band in 2012 and was replaced by Hugh Tait; while Gooch left in 2014 and the band has since been working with guest musicians in his place. The band's debut EP, ''Volume I'' was released in 2013, was produced by Yanto Browning (The Medics, Art of Sleeping, Mosman Alder) and its first single, "Standing in Line", reached the top of the iTunes Blues chart. Second single, "White Wine", spawned a noteworthy video which quietly generated 200,000 views on YouTube. "Shake 'n' Roll" from the EP was later featured in a T-Mobile advertising campaign in the United States. The Gold Coast is a coastal city in the state of Queensland, Australia, approximately south-southeast of the centre of the state capital Brisbane. Konstantin Kersting
Konstantin Kersting, is a multi ARIA award winning producer, songwriter and sound engineer. He has worked with a diverse range of artists, including Tones and I, Milky Chance, Mallrat, Spacey Jane, Amy Shark, The Jungle Giants, The Rubens, R3HAB, The Church, Genesis Owusu, Budjerah, Kita Alexander and Peach PRC. Career Konstantin Kersting began learning the violin via the Suzuki method at the age of four, before picking up bass guitar and double bass in his teens and playing with orchestras and jazz ensembles around his hometown of Berlin. In 2007, Kersting relocated to Australia as a teenage exchange student. After earning a Bachelor of Music from Queensland University of Technology, Kersting commenced working as an in-house sound engineer at Airlock Studios, under the producer Yanto Browning. Wolfmother
Wolfmother is an Australian hard rock band from Sydney. Formed in 2004, the group is centred around vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale, who is the only constant member of the line-up. The band has been through many personnel changes since their formation, with the current incarnation including drummer Hamish Rosser and bassist Brad Heald, both of whom are former members of The Vines. The original – and most commercially successful – line-up included bassist and keyboardist Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett. Ross and Heskett left Wolfmother after four years in 2008. Stockdale, Ross and Heskett formed Wolfmother in 2004 after several years of informal jamming. Big Day Out
The Big Day Out (BDO) was an annual music festival that was held in five Australian cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Adelaide, and Perth, as well as Auckland, New Zealand. The festival was held during summer, typically in January of each year but was sometimes held as late as early February in some cities including Perth. The event was conceptualised after the Violent Femmes announced a tour of Australia. Promoters Ken West and Vivian Lees sought another act as middle-level support for the band's tour. They succeeded in securing Nirvana to play the Sydney leg at the Hordern Pavilion. The Big Day Out debuted on the 1992 Australia Day public holiday in Sydney and eventually expanded to Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth the following year.
