''The Unrecoupable One Man Bandit – Volume One'' is an album by English singer Boy George, released in 1998. The album's ten tracks were recorded in 1996''The Unrecoupable One Man Bandit'' (booklet). Back Door Records. 1998. and were intended to be included on a follow-up to George's 1995 album ''Cheapness and Beauty'', but it was shelved. The tracks were finally released in 1998 due to popular demand from fans and are presented on the album in Demo (music), demo form, mixed and not fully mixed. The album includes "She Was Never He", a song that was first performed on late night BBC show ''Gaytime TV'' in 1995, as well as a cover version of David Bowie's "Suffragette City". Critical reception In a review for AllMusic, Ned Raggett gave ''The Unrecoupable One Man Bandit'' three out of five stars, describing the album as "an enjoyable romp through a variety of fun rockers, some more pointedly tongue in cheek than others." Boy George
George Alan O'Dowd (born 14 June 1961), known professionally as Boy George, is an English singer, songwriter, DJ, author and mixed media artist. Best known for his soulful voice and his androgynous appearance, Boy George has been the lead singer of the pop band Culture Club since the group's formation in 1981. He began his solo career in 1987. Boy George's music is often classified as blue-eyed soul, which is influenced by rhythm and blues and reggae. Boy George grew up in Eltham and was part of the New Romantic movement which emerged in the late 1970s to early 1980s. "Suffragette City" is a song by English singer-songwriter David Bowie. It was originally released in April 1972 as the B-side of the single "Starman" and subsequently appeared on his fifth studio album ''The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars'' (1972). The song was later reissued as a single in 1976, with the US single edit of "Stay" as the B-side, to promote the compilation album ''Changesonebowie'' in the UK. Co-produced by Bowie and Ken Scott, it was recorded by Bowie at Trident Studios in London with his backing band the Spiders from Mars, consisting of Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder and Mick Woodmansey, at a late stage of the album's sessions. The song was originally offered to English band Mott the Hoople, who declined it and recorded Bowie's "All the Young Dudes" instead. Kevan Frost is a British Tony Award and Drama Desk Award–nominated composer, musician, and record producer. He is recognised for his work with the musical ''Taboo''; composing the musical score for the production alongside Boy George. Mayfair Recording Studios, earlier called Spot Studios or Ryemuse Studios, was a recording studio in London, England, located in Mayfair from the 1960s to 1981, then in Primrose Hill from 1981 until it closed in 2008. In the early years the studio was owned by Ryemuse Ltd and was called Spot Studios. It was located at 64 South Molton St, Mayfair, above the chemist shop.
