The Unknown Soldier (1985 Film)
''The Unknown Soldier'' ( fi, Tuntematon sotilas) is a Finnish film from 1985 directed by Rauni Mollberg. It is based on the best selling Finnish novel by the same name written by Väinö Linna. It is the second film adaptation of Linna's novel, the first one being the 1955 film of the same title, directed by Edvin Laine. Third film adaptation of the same novel was released in 2017, directed by Aku Louhimies. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival. The film was selected as the Finnish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 59th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. Rauni Mollberg
Rauni Mollberg (April 15, 1929 – October 11, 2007) was a Finnish film director who directed movies and TV movies. In 1963 Mollberg directed movies for YLE. He directed a version of '' The Unknown Soldier'' in 1985, 30 years after Edvin Laine directed the original version of it. Mollberg's movie's plot was same as Laine's movie. But Mollberg used unknown actors and the movie was colourised and shot by a handhold camera. Mollberg did not begin directing films for the cinema until he was well into his forties. He made a notable splash on the international festival circuit in 1974 with ''The Earth Is A Sinful Song'' (1973), his debut feature, an earthy, erotically-charged, blood-soaked tale of a young village girl's ill-fated affair with a Lapp reindeer herdsman. Aku Louhimies (2009) Aku Louhimies (born 3 July 1968) is a Finnish film director and screenwriter. He has directed feature films, documentary films, commercials and music videos. His international breakthrough was the 2016 serial drama ''Rebellion''. Hannu Kivioja
Hannu Kivioja (born 30 June 1963) is a Finnish actor. Kivioja was born in Ylivieska. Originally he tried for the Helsinki Theatre Academy for the first time in 1985, but did not get in at that time. He was discovered by Rauni Mollberg, who gave him the role of Riitaoja in '' The Unknown Soldier'', which was his debut. Thanks to his role, he got into Theater Academy the following year. The Continuation War, also known as the Second Soviet-Finnish War, was a conflict fought by Finland and Nazi Germany against the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944, as part of World War II.; sv, fortsättningskriget; german: Fortsetzungskrieg. Antero "Antti" Rokka is a fictional character in Väinö Linna's 1954 war novel '' The Unknown Soldier''. Antero Rokka is a well-known figure in the story, and he has taken on an almost archetypal role in Finnish culture. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe.
