The Ultimate Collection (Black Sabbath Album)
''The Ultimate Collection'' is a compilation album by the English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, first released on 28 October 2016. Remastered by engineer Andy Pearce and curated by the members of the band, the album was released during the band's final concert tour, The End Tour. This album saw the first US release of "Evil Woman" and the first UK release of "Wicked World". Release ''The Ultimate Collection'' was released on CD and digital platforms on 28 October 2016. This was followed on 18 November with the limited edition "Crucifold" box set release, which contains four vinyl LPs and folds out into the shape of a cross. Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath were an English rock music, rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward (musician), Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. They are often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music. The band helped define the genre with releases such as ''Black Sabbath (album), Black Sabbath'' (1970), ''Paranoid (album), Paranoid'' (1970) and ''Master of Reality'' (1971). The band had multiple line-up changes following Osbourne's departure in 1979 and Iommi is the only constant member throughout their history. ''Never Say Die!'' is the eighth studio album by English rock band Black Sabbath, released on 29 September 1978. It was the last studio album with the band's original lineup and the last studio album to feature original vocalist Ozzy Osbourne until the 2013 album '' 13''. It was certified Gold in the U.S on 7 November 1997 and as of November 2011 has sold 133,000 copies in the United States since the SoundScan era. The album received mixed reviews, with critics calling it "unbalanced" and insisting its energy was scattered in too many directions. "Hole in the Sky" is a song by the English heavy metal band Black Sabbath. It is the opening track on their sixth studio album, ''Sabotage'', released in 1975. Composition Musical structure Author Mick Wall wrote that the song features a "door-slamming riff that wouldn't have been out of place on '' Paranoid''" (the band's second album, released in 1970). Music scholar Nolan Stolz identifies three guitar riffs played by guitarist Tony Iommi in the song: a main riff, a second riff heard at both around 24 seconds and 58 seconds into the track ("similar to—and a logical outgrowth of—the first"), and a third, four-second-long riff present during the song's chorus after the first two verses. ''Sabbath Bloody Sabbath'' is the fifth studio album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in November 1973. It was produced by the band and recorded at Morgan Studios in London in April to October 1973. The writing process for the album, which began in Los Angeles, California, was initially hampered in part by the band's substance abuse and fatigue following their 1972–1973 world tour in support of their previous album, '' Vol. 4''. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (song)
"Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" is the opening title track of English heavy metal band Black Sabbath's 1973 album of the same name. Its main riff has been cited as "the riff that saved Black Sabbath" because Tony Iommi, who wrote most of the band's music, had been suffering from writer's block. They resorted to drastic measures (including renting out the supposedly haunted Clearwell Castle to live in) to inspire him. "War Pigs" is an anti-war protest song by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1970, it is the opening track from the band's second studio album '' Paranoid'' (1970). Overview The original title of "War Pigs" was "Walpurgis", dealing with the witches' sabbath. "Walpurgis is sort of like Christmas for Satanists.
