''The Typist'' (French: ''Dactylo'') is a 1931 French comedy film directed by Wilhelm Thiele and starring Marie Glory, Jean Murat and Armand Bernard. It was a French-language version of the German film ''Die Privatsekretärin (1931 film), Die Privatsekretärin'' which was itself based on a novel by István Szomaházy. It was followed by a 1934 sequel ''The Typist Gets Married''. The film's sets were designed by Otto Hunte and Franz Koehn. Wilhelm Thiele
Wilhelm Thiele (1890–1975) was an Austrian screenwriter and film director. He directed over 40 films between 1921 and 1960. Life and career Thiele started his show career as a stage actor. He got his start in Austrian and German film during the 1920s, most often as a director of film comedies. His biggest success was the highly influential musical film '' The Three from the Filling Station'' (1930), the highest-grossing film in Germany that year. Thiele, who was of Jewish descent,Siegbert Salomon Prawer, ''Between Two Worlds: The Jewish Presence in German and Austrian Film, 1910-1933'', Berghahn Books (2007), p. 211 left Germany during the Nazi Era. Victor Saville
Victor Saville (25 September 1895 – 8 May 1979) was an English film director, producer, and screenwriter. He directed 39 films between 1927 and 1954. He also produced 36 films between 1923 and 1962. Biography Saville produced his first film, '' Woman to Woman'', with Michael Balcon in 1923, and on the back of its success produced pictures for the veteran director Maurice Elvey, including the classic British silent '' Hindle Wakes'' (1927). His first picture as director was '' The Arcadians'' (1927). In 1929 he and Balcon worked together again on a talkie remake of ''Woman to Woman'' for Balcon's company, Gainsborough Pictures. This time Saville directed it. Goffredo Alessandrini
Goffredo Alessandrini (20 November 1904, in Cairo – 16 May 1978, in Rome) was an Italian scriptwriter and film director. He also acted, edited, and produced some films. He practiced athletics in his youth, and won a title of Italian champion on 110 meters hurdles in 1925. Biography He started in films collaborating with Alessandro Blasetti and was one of the most important film directors under Italian Fascism. His films received several awards at the Venice Film Festival during the Fascist era: the Mussolini Cup for Best Italian film in 1938, for ''Luciano Serra pilota'', and in 1939 for ''Abuna Messias''. He received the Biennale Award in 1942, for ''Noi Vivi'' and ''Addio Kira!''
