The Town Scandal
''The Town Scandal'' is a 1923 American comedy film directed by King Baggot from a screenplay written by Hugh Hoffman. It was based on the novel ''The Chicken That Came Home to Roost'' by Frederic Arnold Kummer. The film stars Gladys Walton, Edward Hearn, Edward McWade, Charles Hill Mailes, William Welsh and Billy Franey. The film was released on April 16, 1923, by Universal Pictures. King Baggot
William King Baggot (November 7, 1879 – July 11, 1948) was an American actor, film director and screenwriter. He was an internationally famous movie star of the silent film era. The first individually publicized leading man in America, Baggot was referred to as "King of the Movies," "The Most Photographed Man in the World" and "The Man Whose Face Is As Familiar As The Man In The Moon." Baggot appeared in over 300 motion pictures from 1909 to 1947; wrote 18 screenplays; and directed 45 movies from 1912 to 1928, including '' The Lie'' (1912), '' Raffles, the Amateur Cracksman'' (1925) and ''The House of Scandal'' (1928). He also directed William S. Hart in his most famous western, ''Tumbleweeds'' (1925). Virginia True Boardman
Virginia True Boardman (born Margaret Shields, May 23, 1889 – June 10, 1971) was an American actress of the silent era. Biography Born in Fort Davis, Texas, Boardman began her theatrical career in 1906 as Virginia Eames (using her mother's surname) and acted with the Streeter-Bryan company in 1908. She went on to appear in 52 films between 1911 and 1936. Although her career started off strong, like many actresses of the silent film era she failed to make a successful transition to talking films, and by the mid-1930s her career was at its end for all practical purposes. On January 16, 1909, she married actor True Boardman, and they remained wed until his death in 1918. The couple performed together in stock theater companies and in vaudeville. Margaret Morris (November 7, 1898 – June 7, 1968) was an American film actress of the silent films, silent film era and into the 1930s. Early years Morris, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was the great-niece to former US President Benjamin Harrison.
