Jacques Deray
Jacques Deray (born Jacques Desrayaud; 19 February 1929 – 9 August 2003) was a French film director and screenwriter. Deray is prominently known for directing many crime and thriller films. Biography Born Jacques Desrayaud in Lyon, France, in 1929 to a family of Lyon industrialists. At the age of 19 he went to Paris to study drama under René Simon. Deray played minor roles on the stage and in films from the age of 19. From 1952, Deray worked as assistant to a number of directors, including Luis Buñuel, Gilles Grangier, Jules Dassin, and Jean Boyer. Deray's first film was the drama '' Le Gigolo'' released in 1960. Deray was fascinated by American film noir and began to focus on crime stories. Deray's early work includes ''Du rififi à Tokyo'', an homage to Jules Dassin's ''Rififi''. Mattia Sbragia (born 17 April 1952) is an Italian character actor. Biography The son of the actor and stage director Giancarlo, Sbragia has been performing in films, on television, and in the theater for almost thirty years. He made his motion picture debut in 1974, in Franco Rossetti's ''Nipoti Miei Diletti'' (1974). Regina Bianchi (1 January 1921 – 5 April 2013) was an Italian stage and film actress. Life and career Born in Lecce as Regina D'Antigny, she was the daughter of two theater actors. Forced by the fascist phobia of foreign cultures to change her surname, she adopted the surname of her paternal grandmother. At age 16, she entered the stage company of Raffaele Viviani and, that year, debuted in the comedy play ''Campagna napoletana'', in the leading role of Reginella.
