Teddy the Dog or Keystone Teddy (1910/11 – May 17, 1925) was the most famous dog actor, animal actor associated with the Mack Sennett studios. The Great Dane was one of only three (with Mabel Normand and Roscoe Arbuckle) of the studio's stars whose name appeared in the title of a film (''Teddy at the Throttle''). He performed chiefly in Sennett comedies, but he also appeared in dramatic films including ''Stella Maris (1918 film), Stella Maris'' (1918), ''The Strangers' Banquet'' (1922) and ''A Boy of Flanders'' (1924). Eugenie Besserer
Eugenie Besserer ( – May 29, 1934) was an American actress who starred in silent films and features of the early sound motion-picture era, beginning in 1910. Her most prominent role is that of the title character's mother in the first talkie film, ''The Jazz Singer''. Early life Born in Marseilles, France, Besserer attended the Convent of Notre Dame in Ottawa, Ontario. She was taken by her parents to Ottawa as a girl, and spent her childhood there. She was left an orphan and escaped from her guardians at the age of 12. She came to New York City and arrived at Grand Central Station with only 25 cents (Canadian currency, equivalent to US$0.34 at the time) in her pocket. She managed to locate a former governess, with the assistance of a street car conductor, who helped Eugenie locate an uncle, with whom she lived. She continued her education there. He was involved in the production of over 60 films in acting and directing and he also wrote the scripts for twelve films, according to IMDb, nearly all shorts. Edward McWade (January 14, 1865 – May 17, 1943) was a writer, stage actor and an American film actor. Biography McWade was born in Washington, D.C., on January 14, 1865. His father was notable stage actor Robert McWade Sr. (1835-1913) and his younger brother was character actor Robert McWade Jr. On September 4, 1897, McWade married actress Margaret May Fish. They performed in a number of stage and film productions together both before and after they were married. McWade appeared in more than 130 films between 1919 and 1944, mostly in secondary roles. William Jonathan Humphrey (January 2, 1875 – October 4, 1942) was an American actor and film director. Born in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, William Humphrey was a well-known member of the early stock company of Vitagraph Studios. Without the romantic looks to become a real star, he nevertheless played leads in Shakespeare and other important studio productions of the day. He also directed or co-directed eighty films between 1911 and 1927, including comedian Mabel Normand in the 1918 propaganda drama entitled ''Joan of Plattsburg''. In the late silent era, Humphrey, with other original Vitagraph actors such as Florence Turner, Maurice Costello, and Flora Finch, was kept on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer payroll for expert playing of character roles.
