The Stolen Ranch
''The Stolen Ranch'' is a 1926 American silent Western film directed by William Wyler and starring Fred Humes, Louise Lorraine, and William Bailey. The future star Janet Gaynor appeared as an extra in the film. Plot As described in a film magazine, Breezy Hart takes charge of his war buddy, Frank Wilcox, who has shell shock so badly that he goes out of his head every time he hears a noise. Breezy leaves Frank in a deserted cabin near the ranch formerly owned by his dead uncle and now possessed by Sam Hardy, although Frank has good reason to believe that his uncle intended to leave the place to him. Breezy gets a job on the ranch as pot scraper and supports Frank in his hideout while Frank becomes friendly with June Marston, daughter of a neighboring rancher. William Wyler
William Wyler (; born Willi Wyler (); July 1, 1902 – July 27, 1981) was a Swiss-German-American film director and producer who won the Academy Award for Best Director three times, those being for ''Mrs. Miniver'' (1942), ''The Best Years of Our Lives'' (1946), and '' Ben-Hur'' (1959), all of which also won for Best Picture. In total, he holds a record twelve nominations for the Academy Award for Best Director. Born in Alsace, then in Germany, but later part of France, Wyler was a troublemaker in the schools of his youth. He immigrated to United States in 1921, working first for Universal Studios in New York before moving to Los Angeles. Nita Cavalier (May 15, 1906 – April 4, 1969) was an American silent film and stage actress. Early life Nita Cavalier was born on May 15, 1906, in Denver, Colorado. She moved to Los Angeles, California with her family at the age of one. She attended the Hollywood High School. Career Cavalier was a stage actress. In 1928, she performed in ''Kongo'' at the Granada Theater in Ontario, California alongside Howard Sinclair. In 1930, she performed in ''The Bachelor Father'' at the Garrick Theatre alongside George LaMar. The film is based on a 1920 Broadway play, ''Three Live Ghosts'', by Frederic S. Isham and Max Marcin. Actor Cyril Chadwick is the only performer from the play to appear in the film. Lone Pine is a census-designated place (CDP) in Inyo County, California, United States. Lone Pine is located south-southeast of Independence, at an elevation of . The population was 2,035 at the 2010 census, up from 1,655 at the 2000 census. The town is located in the Owens Valley, near the Alabama Hills and Mount Whitney, between the eastern peaks of the Sierra Nevada to the west and the Inyo Mountains to the east.
