The Square Festival
The Square Festival was an annual music festival held in Borth, Ceredigion, Mid Wales. It was originally set up in 2005, as a small festival for the village. In 2008 it grew to become a commercial festival for up to 3,000 people over two days. In 2009 the organisers hosted the festival over three days with a capacity for 5,000 people. The festival was not held in 2010 due to licensing and financial issues, and has not been held since. 2008 In its first year as a commercial venture, The Square Festival was held on 26 and 27 July and was attended by almost 2,900 people. It had four stages hosting over 40 acts, with Pendulum and Alabama 3 headlining the main stage on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Pendulum (drum And Bass Band)
Pendulum is an Australian electronic rock band founded in 2002. Pendulum originally formed in the city of Perth, Western Australia, by Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen and Paul "El Hornet" Harding. The band was later expanded to include members Ben Mount, Peredur ap Gwynedd and KJ Sawka. Members Swire and McGrillen also formed the electro house duo Knife Party. The group is notable for its distinctive sound, mixing electronic music with hard rock and covering a wide range of genres. In 2003, Swire, McGrillen and Harding relocated to the United Kingdom. The debut studio album, ''Hold Your Colour'', was released in 2005 to positive critical reception. While ''Hold Your Colour'' was mostly of the drum & bass genre, the succeeding albums ''In Silico'' and ''Immersion'' saw experimentation of other genres such as industrial rock and electronic rock. Borth
Borth ( cy, Y Borth) is a village and seaside resort in Ceredigion, Mid Wales, 7 miles (11 km) north of Aberystwyth on the Ceredigion Coast Path. The community includes the settlement of Ynyslas. The population was 1,399 in 2011. From being largely Welsh-speaking, the village has become anglicised: over 54 per cent of its residents were born in England. According to both the 1991 and 2001 censuses, 43 per cent of the residents of Borth were primarily Welsh-speakers. Features and history Borth's sandy beach has helped to promote it as a seaside resort. There is a youth hostel in the village, and caravan and camping sites nearby. There is an ancient submerged forest visible at low tide along the beach, where stumps of oak, pine, birch, willow and hazel (preserved by the acid anaerobic conditions in the peat) can be seen. Ceredigion
Ceredigion ( , , ) is a county in the west of Wales, corresponding to the historic county of Cardiganshire. During the second half of the first millennium Ceredigion was a minor kingdom. Mid Wales ( cy, Canolbarth Cymru or simply ''Y Canolbarth'', meaning "the midlands") or Central Wales refers to a region of Wales, encompassing its midlands, in-between North Wales and South Wales. The Mid Wales Regional Committee of the Senedd covered the unitary authority areas of Ceredigion and Powys and the area of Gwynedd that had previously been the district of Meirionnydd. Supergrass
Supergrass are an English rock band formed in 1993 in Oxford. For the majority of the band's tenure, the line-up consisted of brothers Gaz (lead vocals, guitar) and Rob Coombes (keyboards), Mick Quinn (bass, backing vocals) and Danny Goffey (drums, backing vocals). Originally a three-piece, Rob Coombes officially joined the band in 2002. The Holloways
The Holloways are an English four-piece indie rock band from North London. Their single "Generator" reached number 14 in the UK Singles Chart on 11 June 2007. They have had five No.1 singles on the UK Indie Chart and several Top 40 singles. Their debut album, ''So This Is Great Britain?'', was awarded 8 out of 10 by ''NME''. Former band member Rob Skipper died on 3 October 2014 in Brighton from a heroin overdose. Skindred are a Welsh reggae metal band formed in Newport in 1998. Their musical style mixes heavy metal, alternative rock and ragga.
