The Sky Above Us (film)
''The Sky Above Us with James Albury'' is a short American astronomy show hosted by James Albury, director of the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium at Santa Fe College. Each episode is approximately five minutes in length; and, a new episode is released every two or three weeks. Prior to hosting this series, Albury had spent eight years co-hosting the long-running PBS astronomy series, '' Star Gazers''. The series is produced at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida. James Albury announced the launch of the astronomy series on his Facebook fan page. In a post dated January 16, 2020, Albury reported that the first episode, ''March of the Planets!'', had been recorded earlier that same day. Amateur astronomy is a hobby where participants enjoy observing or imaging celestial objects in the sky using the unaided eye, binoculars, or telescopes. White House Astronomy Night
White House Astronomy Night (and alternatively Astronomy Night on the National Mall) is an event first organized by the White House in conjunction with the Office of Science and Technology Policy to motivate interest in astronomy and science education. The original White House Astronomy Night was held in 2009 on the South Lawn. In 2010 the White House and the Office of Science and Technology Policy organized a similar event with help from Hofstra University, this time held on the National Mall. Between 2010 and 2014 annual events took place at the National Mall with coordination between Hofstra University and federal agencies including: the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, NASA, and the National Science Foundation. ''StarDate'' is a science radio program of The University of Texas at Austin McDonald Observatory, broadcast on over 360 radio stations. It is a daily guide to the night sky and breaking astronomical news. Typically heard without formal introduction, ''StarDate'' is a self-contained science news feature interwoven with routine radio programming. ''SkyWeek'' was a weekly astronomy television program created by '' Sky & Telescope'' magazine. The show was hosted by Tony Flanders, associate editor of ''Sky & Telescope'' magazine. Each episode of the program was released in one, three, and five-minute formats; and, the show's content and format were similar to that of another weekly astronomy program called '' Star Gazers''. ''SkyWeek'' was carried by many PBS affiliates. Content ''SkyWeek'' was an educational program that described celestial events for the upcoming week. The Sky At Night
''The Sky at Night'' is a monthly documentary television programme on astronomy produced by the BBC. The show had the same permanent presenter, Sir Patrick Moore, from its first broadcast on 24 April 1957 until 7 January 2013. The latter date was a posthumous broadcast, following Moore's death on 9 December 2012. This made it the longest-running programme with the same presenter in television history. Many early episodes are missing, either because the tapes were wiped or thrown out, or because the episode was broadcast live and never recorded in the first place. Beginning with the 3 February 2013 edition, the show was co-presented by Lucie Green and Chris Lintott. Since December 2013 Maggie Aderin-Pocock has also been a presenter. Dean Regas is an American astronomer, public speaker, author, and television host. He is most widely known as the cohost of the syndicated television show '' Star Gazers'', which airs daily on more than 100 PBS stations around the world. ''Star Gazers'' (formerly known as ''Jack Horkheimer: Star Hustler'' and later ''Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer'') is a short astronomy show on American public television previously hosted by Jack Horkheimer, executive director of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium. After his death in 2010, a series of guest astronomers hosted until 2011, when Dean Regas, James Albury, and Marlene Hidalgo became permanent co-hosts.
