He was the drummer and lead singer of the rock band Genesis and also has a career as a solo performer. Between 1982 and 1990, Collins scored three UK and seven US number-one singles as a solo artist. When his work with Genesis, his work with other artists, as well as his solo career is totalled, he had more US top 40 singles than any other artist during the 1980s. His most successful singles from the period include "In the Air Tonight", "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)", " One More Night", and "Another Day in Paradise". Born and raised in west London, Collins played drums from the age of five and completed drama school training, which secured him various roles as a child actor, with his first major role, aged 13, as the Artful Dodger in the West End musical '' Oliver!''. Dance Into The Light
''Dance into the Light'' is the sixth solo studio album by English drummer and singer-songwriter Phil Collins, released on 8 October 1996 in the United States and on 21 October 1996 in the United Kingdom by Face Value Records. It features guest backing vocalists, including Arnold McCuller, and Amy Keys. It was the first album that Collins released as a full-time solo artist, having left Genesis earlier that year. The album was received negatively by the majority of music critics and under-performed commercially. It reached No. 23 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 and was Collins' poorest-selling album at the time (only 2002's ''Testify'' and 2010's '' Going Back'' sold fewer copies and charted lower). ''Dance into the Light'' was certified gold in the U.S. The album was Collins' first to not contain any American Top 40 hits, with the title track only reaching (although it cracked the top 10 in the UK). However, five singles were issued from ''Dance into the Light'': "Dance into the Li ...

Wear My Hat
"Wear My Hat" is a song by English drummer Phil Collins released as the fourth single from his album ''Dance into the Light''. It was only released in the United Kingdom and peaked at #43 on the UK Singles Chart. Collins said in an interview that the song and its music video is about the pressures of fame and how some fans grow an attachment to their favourite stars. The video for the song featured actor Danny DeVito. The song was played throughout the Trip into the Light World Tour and on the First Final Farewell Tour. A live performance of the song was also recorded for ''Top of the Pops''. However it was not aired (at the time) most likely due to its very low charting position, but it was then shown in full on an episode of '' Top of the Pops 2'' several years later. I Missed Again
"I Missed Again" is a song from Phil Collins's debut solo album, ''Face Value''. This song is the seventh song on the CD and the first song on the second side on the record. The song features a tenor sax solo from British jazz musician Ronnie Scott. Background Like many of the songs on ''Face Value'', "I Missed Again" is about Collins's anger and frustration about his first wife leaving him. The original demo was entitled "I Miss You, Babe", with sadder lyrics - this demo version was later released as a B-side of " If Leaving Me Is Easy". He re-wrote the lyrics, gave the song a different tempo, and re-titled it "I Missed Again" in an effort to make it lighthearted instead of sad. Music video The song's music video features Collins on a white background singing and miming the various instruments. It was released on VHS in 1983. It received a Grammy nomination for Best Video, Short Form. Credits #"I Missed Again" #*Phil Collins – vocals, piano, Prophet-5, drums #*Daryl Stu ...

Sussudio
"Sussudio" is a song by English singer-songwriter Phil Collins, released as a single in January 1985. The song entered frequent rotation on MTV in May; by 6 July both single and album reached No. 1 on their respective US ''Billboard'' charts. The song peaked at No. 12 in the UK Singles Chart. Production and recording Collins has said that he "improvised" the lyric. Collins was just playing around with a drum machine, and the lyric "su-sussudio" was what came out of his mouth. "So I kinda knew I had to find something else for that word, then I went back and tried to find another word that scanned as well as 'sussudio,' and I couldn't find one, so I went back to 'sussudio'", Collins said. According to Collins, the lyrics are about a schoolboy crush on a girl at school. The synthesizer, rhythm and synth bass arrangement, sound design, and programming wa ...

The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archai ...
