The Seventh One
''The Seventh One'' is the seventh studio album by the American rock band Toto. It was released in 1988, and became the best-received Toto album since ''Toto IV''. The title track, "The Seventh One", is featured only on the Japanese version of the album and on the B-side of the single "Pamela". It was also released on some compilations on a later date. It would be their second and last studio album with lead vocalist Joseph Williams until ''Toto XIV'' (2015). Background and recording Steve Lukather described the writing of ''The Seventh One'' as a period of prolific "one-upmanship" with the band trying to impress one another with their compositions. Joseph Williams (musician)
Joseph Stanley Williams (born September 1, 1960) is an American singer, songwriter and film score composer, best known for his work in the rock band Toto, which he fronted as lead vocalist from 1986 to 1988, 2010 to 2019 and again since 2020. He is a son of film composer John Williams and actress Barbara Ruick and a grandson of jazz drummer Johnny Williams and actors Melville Ruick and Lurene Tuttle. Career Toto Williams was the lead vocalist for Toto during the mid-to-late 1980s and was featured on the albums ''Fahrenheit'' (1986) and ''The Seventh One'' (1988) before leaving due to personal problems. Turn Back (album)
''Turn Back'' is the third studio album by the American rock group Toto released in 1981. Although it yielded the band's first top-ten hit in Japan and steady sales in that country, the album was a commercial disappointment elsewhere, failing to produce any charting singles and selling approximately 900,000 copies worldwide. Background ''Turn Back'' was recorded with Geoff Workman, who worked as the engineer for Queen, as well as producer and engineer for the Cars, Journey, and Foreigner. The band's intention behind the album was to become an "arena rock band" and emphasize a heavier rock sound. Toto guitarist and vocalist Steve Lukather has credited Workman for providing the album a "new and very different sound" consisting of virtually no mid-range. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. "Rosanna" is a song written by David Paich and performed by the American rock band Toto, the opening track and the first single from their 1982 album ''Toto IV''. This song won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year at the 1983 ceremony. "Rosanna" was also nominated for the Song of the Year award. It is regarded for the half-time shuffle which drummer Jeff Porcaro developed for the song. David Frank Paich (born June 25, 1954) is an American musician, best known as the co-founder, principal songwriter, keyboardist and singer of the rock band Toto since 1977. He wrote or co-wrote much of Toto's original material, including the band's three most popular songs: " Hold the Line", " Rosanna" and "Africa". With Toto, Paich has contributed to 17 albums and sold over 40 million records. He and guitarist and singer Steve Lukather are the only members to appear on every studio album.
