Satellite
A satellite or artificial satellite is an object intentionally placed into orbit in outer space. Except for passive satellites, most satellites have an electricity generation system for equipment on board, such as solar panels or radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs). Most satellites also have a method of communication to ground stations, called Transponder (satellite communications), transponders. Many satellites use a Satellite bus, standardized bus to save cost and work, the most popular of which is small CubeSats. Similar satellites can work together as a group, forming Satellite constellation, constellations. Because of the high launch cost to space, satellites are designed to be as lightweight and robust as possible. Commuter Town
A commuter town is a populated area that is primarily residential rather than commercial or industrial. Routine travel from home to work and back is called commuting, which is where the term comes from. A commuter town may be called by many other terms: "bedroom community" (Canada and northeastern US), "bedroom town", "bedroom suburb" (US), "dormitory town", or "dormitory suburb" (Britain/ Commonwealth/Ireland). Satellite EP
''Satellite EP'' is the fifth EP by the rock band Guster. It was released on 10 April 2007. It is Guster's third EP with the musician Joe Pisapia. The EP includes both live recordings and songs recorded during the creation of ''Ganging Up On The Sun'' but not included on the album. The Astronauts, a producing team, remixed a techno-inspired version of "Satellite" that appears on this EP as well. This was first released as an iTunes single and a radio edit of this song received airplay on radio stations. " Two of Us" is a Beatles song which the band covers on the EP. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is a somewhat less-than-serious cover of the original Bonnie Tyler song, recorded at a concert at the State Theater in Portland, Maine. Brian Rosenworcel, the band's drummer, sings the lead vocals, a rare occurrence in Guster's music. Reverb, an environmental action group of the guitarist/vocalist Adam Gardner and his wife, helped to produce this EP as entirely carbon neutral. The CD ... It was released by Friend of Mine Records on December 4, 2007, and distributed in the United States by Sunset Alliance Records. Satellite (Panic Room Album)
''Satellite'' is the second album by Welsh progressive rock band Panic Room. This album saw the band retreat somewhat from the very 'progressive' approach to their debut album '' Visionary Position'' and the result is a more cohesive, song-orientated album. The album was recorded at Sonic One Studios in Wales by Tim Hamill and the artwork was designed and created by Teslin Davies. Pre-orders of the album were released in 2009. A special edition, complete with a bonus disc containing four extra songs is available exclusively from the band's own website and at live concerts. The single disc retail version was released on 25 January 2010. This was the final album to feature the original lineup, as Alun Vaughan left the band during the summer of 2010. John Garrison (musician)
John Garrison (born 7 January 1973) is an English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Co-founder of the British alternative rock band Budapest, he recorded and performed with them from 1999 to 2006. After the band split, he launched a career as a solo artist and has released three albums: “''Above The Cosmos” 2007'', “''Departures” 2009 and “Extinguisher” 2020''. He also recorded three albums under the name ''Satellites.'' Satellite Records
Stax Records is an American record company, originally based in Memphis, Tennessee. Founded in 1957 as Satellite Records, the label changed its name to Stax Records in 1961. It also shared its operations with sister label Volt Records. Stax was influential in the creation of Southern soul and Memphis soul music. Stax also released gospel, funk, and blues recordings. Renowned for its output of blues music, the label was founded by two siblings and business partners, Jim Stewart and his sister Estelle Axton (STewart/AXton = Stax). It featured several popular ethnically integrated bands (including the label's house band, Booker T. & the M.G.'s) and a racially integrated team of staff and artists unprecedented in that time of racial strife and tension in Memphis and the South. Satellite is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California, and Nashville, Tennessee, formed by Steven McMorran, Josh Dunahoo, and Mitch Allan in June 2010. History Satellite was formed around songs written by lead singer, Steven McMorran and produced by Mitch Allan with Josh Dunahoo. Starting in early 2009, they were eager to invest themselves into music that felt permanent and worked diligently to make a records that would be a worthy reminder of the passion they required. Satellite is a Polish neo-prog band. It was founded in 2000 by ex-Collage drummer Wojtek Szadkowski as a quartet, with Sarhan Kubeisi on guitar, Robert Amirian as vocalist and bassist, and Krzysiek Palczewski on keyboards. Their debut album, ''A Street Between Sunrise and Sunset'', was released on 10 March 2003 by Metal Mind Productions. Its follow-up, ''Evening Games'', was released in February 2005, and reached no. 8 at the top 100 best selling records in Poland. At the beginning of June 2005, regular rehearsals helped develop Satellite as a real band and not just Wojtek's solo studio project. Les Satellites (The Satellites) is a French alternative rock band that was formed in 1985 and split up in 1994. History The band was born in late 1985 on the ashes of underground acts Tonton est mort and Abject. They play a mix of 60's influenced rock and funk with the addition of brass instruments. The lyrics are resolutely humoristic and careless. In 1986, they started touring with then popular alternative French bands Bérurier Noir, Ludwig von 88, Les Wampas and Mano Negra and played on stage dressed as cosmonauts.
