''The River'' ( cs, Řeka) is a 1933 Czechoslovakia, Czechoslovak film drama directed by Josef Rovenský. The film was also released with German voiceovers under the title ''Junge Liebe'' in 1934. The film won Best Director Prize at 1934 Venice Film Festival. Production The film was shot in 12 days — 3 days for exteriors and 9 days in the studio. The outdoor scenes were filmed around Poříčí nad Sázavou and in hotel Hubertus in Jíloviště. ''The River'' is a 1929 partial-talkie drama film directed by Frank Borzage, and starring Charles Farrell and Mary Duncan. Much of the film has been lost. A reconstructed Version with the about 45 minutes of surviving film, using still images and explanatory titlecards to bridge the missing scenes, was produced by the Munich Filmmuseum, in collaboration with the cinémathèques of Switzerland and Luxembourg. This version was screened in 2006 by the American Museum of the Moving Image in New York City. Borzage also directed Farrell, opposite Janet Gaynor, in '' Seventh Heaven'' (1927), '' Street Angel'' (1928), and '' Lucky Star'' (1929) during this period. ''The River'' is a song written by the English composer Edward Elgar in 1909 as his Op.60, No.2. On the title-page it is described as a "Folk-Song (Eastern Europe), paraphrased by Pietro d’Alba and Edward Elgar". It was one of a set of a cycle of four songs that he planned, to his own words. It was shortly after writing the song '' A Child Asleep'' for Muriel Foster, a few days before the Christmas of 1909 that Elgar received the news of the death of a friend the soprano Olga Ouroussoff, the young wife of Henry Wood. The inspiration for the songs was the result of this news. Only the first song of the cycle, '' The Torch'' and the last, ''The River'' were written. Neal Morse (born August 2, 1960) is an American singer, musician and composer based in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1992, he formed the progressive rock band Spock's Beard with his brother Alan and released an album which was moderately successful. In 1999, he joined Dream Theater's co-founder and then drummer Mike Portnoy, together with Flower Kings' Roine Stolt and Marillion's Pete Trewavas they formed the super-group Transatlantic. In 2002, Neal Morse became a born again Christian, left Spock's Beard and began a Christian rock solo career, releasing many progressive rock concept albums about his new religious faith. In the meantime, he continued to play with Transatlantic and formed three new bands with Portnoy, Yellow Matter Custard, Flying Colors and The Neal Morse Band.
