''The River'' ( cs, Řeka) is a 1933 Czechoslovakia, Czechoslovak film drama directed by Josef Rovenský. The film was also released with German voiceovers under the title ''Junge Liebe'' in 1934. The film won Best Director Prize at 1934 Venice Film Festival. Production The film was shot in 12 days — 3 days for exteriors and 9 days in the studio. The outdoor scenes were filmed around Poříčí nad Sázavou and in hotel Hubertus in Jíloviště. Elektafilm
Elektafilm a.s., formerly Elektafilm s.r.o. was a Czechoslovak film production and film distribution company that existed from 1923 to 1951. It produced and distributed silent film, silent and since 1930 sound films in Czech language, Czech, German language, German and French language, French languages. In the 1930s, Elektafilm was the biggest film production company in Czechoslovakia. The most successful Elektafilm-produced film was Gustav Machatý's ''Ecstasy (film), Ecstasy''. Most of its films were shot at rented A-B Ateliers in Vinohrady, Prague in 1920s, and Barrandov Studios since 1930. Another Czechoslovak production company, Elekta-Journal (1929-1937), had no connection to Elektafilm despite the similar name. Josef Rovenský
Josef Rovenský (17 April 1894 – 5 November 1937) was a Czech-Jewish Siegbert Salomon Prawer, ''Between Two Worlds: The Jewish Presence in German and Austrian Film, 1910-1933'', Berghahn Books (2007), p. 213 film actor and director. He appeared in 74 films between 1914 and 1936. He starred in the 1929 film '' Father Vojtech'', which was the directorial debut of Martin Frič. He died during filming of ''Virginity''. According to Otakar Vávra he died of a cocaine overdose. His last film '' Watchman No. 47'' was then completed by Jan Sviták. Jaroslav Marvan (11 December 1901 – 21 May 1974) was a Czech actor. He was born in Prague. He was married since the 1920s with Marie Marvanová and had a daughter (Alena Marvanová) with Alena Jančaříková. He passed his school-leaving exam in 1919 and became a member of the Central Office of posts. He was sent to Uzghorod on business matters (1920–1923). He was a member of Vlasta Burian's Theatre 1926–1943, then of the Vinohradské divadlo (1943–1950) and then of the Městská divadla pražská (1950–1954), from where he became a member of the Národní divadlo (National Theatre), where he served for until two years before his death, in 1972.
