The Revelators
The Revelators (also known as "The Delta Revelators") is an Australian blues rock band formed in 1989 by Joe Camilleri, James Black, Joe Creighton and Peter Luscome. Jeff Burstin joined in 1990. In Camilleri's own words, their desire was to "blow out the serious days' work with people who shared the same interest in music and who simply wanted to play it". The band is a side project of The Black Sorrows as all members were part of The Black Sorrows at the time of formation. The Revelators' sound was a return to early Black Sorrows sound: playing largely R&B-oriented cover songs. The band released three studio albums and a live DVD between 1991 and 2002. A greatest hits was released in 2012. The band received two ARIA Award nominations; both for ARIA Award for Best Blues and Roots Album, in 2001 and 2003. The Revelators (album)
''The Revelators'' is the third and final studio album by Australian blues-rock band The Revelators. The album was released 23 September 2002. The band considers this 'their true debut'. Camilleri said "This is the evolution of being a band. It’s about trying to create a standard of music that’s as good as the music we love." Unlike the band's previous albums, this album contains mostly original tracks. Joe Camilleri said; “We wrote a whole bunch of songs for the record, but some didn’t make the cut. It’s always a tricky thing, you think they’re all beautiful. Some songs are really good but they don’t fit the record.” The album was officially launched on 4 October 2002 at Melbourne's Corner Hotel. Amazing Stories (album)
''Amazing Stories'' is the debut studio album by Australian blues-rock band The Revelators. The album was released in 1991 and consisted of cover versions of soul and blues songs. The album was re-released in March 1993 as a 2CD pack with The Black Sorrows' '' Better Times'' and peaked at number 14 on the ARIA Chart. The album was re-released in 2002 with two additional tracks from the original sessions that were not included on the first pressing, Those being "Honest I Do" and "Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down" Inside the booklet, Joe Camilleri of The Revelators said: "I don't see this as a greatest hits recording, more an opportunity to pay homage to some of the great writers of our time.The Revelators were formed out of a desire to keep music alive. "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)" is a 1968 song that was a 1969 hit single by Jr. Walker & the All Stars. The single was one of Jr. Walker's most successful releases, becoming a hit on both the R&B and pop singles charts. "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)," written by Johnny Bristol, Harvey Fuqua, and Vernon Bullock, made it into the top five on the Hot 100, and became Jr. Walker's second #1 on the R&B charts. Shane O'Mara (musician)
Shane O'Mara is an Australian musician and record producer. He worked with Stephen Cummings as a member of Stephen Cummings' Lovetown, Good Humour and the Stephen Cummings Band and co-produced the albums '' A New Kind of Blue'' (1989), ''Good Humour'' (1991) and ''Unguided Tour'' (1992). He played with Chris Wilson in the Chris Wilson Band which released an EP, ''The Big One'', in May and a studio album, ''Landlocked'', in June 1992, and he backed Wilson in ''Live at the Continental'' (October 1994). He formed Rebecca's Empire with then partner Rebecca Barnard (also part of Cumming's backing bands). Kerryn William Tolhurst (born 1948) is an Australian country rock musician, songwriter and producer. He was based in the United States from late 1970s to the late 1990s, although he periodically returned to Australia. He was a founder of the Australian group, the Dingoes (1973–1979, 2009–present) and co-wrote their top 40 hit single, " Way Out West" (October 1973). It was covered by fellow Australians, James Blundell and James Reyne in 1991, which reached No. 2 on the ARIA Singles Chart. He also formed a short-lived group, Rattling Sabres, and wrote their single, " All Fired Up" (1987).
